Just got back from the States and have jet lag so I thought I would post about my F body radiator install. When I first got home, it was 90+ degrees. My wife and I decide to go for a ride through the mountains and got stuck behind a truck going about 20 mph up the mountain. Needless to say I was pushing over 200 degrees without the a/c on! The next day I installed the Fbody radiator and a set of dual fans for Gbodyparts.com. The radiator was a drop in itself. The fans needed minor trimming to fit flush to the core. The fans did fit the GN radiator perfect. I mounted the tranny cooler under the front bumper and removed the oil cooler and lines. I filled the radiator up half way so that it would heat up and test the fans. WOW! The fans cut on and the temp immediately dropped back down to 167 degrees! I couldn’t believe it. I topped off the radiator and took it for a test drive with the AC on and it would not get over 173 degrees. This is with a front mount also. It was 92 outside and went downtown to hit every red light. I highly recommend this upgrade! Cheap, easy and very effective!

Hi,
My TTA never heats up, has a similar radiator.Stuck in traffic, I still run 180 max. Glad you solved your problem!

Hey vader is that Electrical tape on your turbo to IC pipe??? What company supplied that setup????

Everybody ask that  ! No it came that way and I do not like it but it works. The radiator is from an IROC and Gbodyparts sells the fans for $99. The hose is from http://www.stylinmotors.com/ an advertiser from here.

How did removing those oil cooler hoses work out?? Did you go run @ Steele? Got a link for the radiator?

Hey Vader87, Do those fans have a high and a low like the factory or are they one speed? BTW, looks great and that should cool things off a bit.

Sorry I don not know  . I also used the casper relays so maybe that controls the speeds. The guys at Gbody are cool and will help you with any questions. BTW.....Thanks!

Not a problem, you kind of answered my question anyway. By using the Casper relays. Thanks and keep up the good work on the ride!

Yeah Ive been telling people that not trying the F-Body radiator is an exercise in futility. Its the best thing ive done. I still the run the stock fan, and just replaced the fan resistor with a lower ohm (but 50 watt) one so itll spin faster than it normally would while running in the low speed circuit, and then itll run just a little faster when in the high speed circuit. But it never has reached the high speed circuit. Bypassing the resistor alltogether like some people do isnt a good thing to do. I run at 162 everywhere I go in the summer heat. It'll hit 180 in EXTREME situations, but rarely.

I was doing a search on the Fbody Radiators when I ran across this thread. My car seems to run around 230 with the A/C on  and around 180-200 without the A/C. This is usualy around 80 -90 degress outside. Anyhow, I was wondering what makes the Fbody radiator better than the stock and what all parts do you need to do the swap? Also, I see/read you disconnected the oil lines on the radiator, did you install an after market cooler or does our cars run ok without one?

Thanks
Ray

Just the radiator, dual fan setup and I elected to use Caspers dual fan relays. Hoses connect right up. Well they cool better because they are aluminum and the flow is more efficiant in cooling.

So wait a minute here, I too want to do this. I see there are fittings for the oil. Can you still use them, or do people just elect not to. Im not in the garage right now so I cant check but wondered are they the same size hose fittings as stock?

The fittings are different sizes than your oil lines. I am sure you can find an adapter. I just don't run my oil cooler. Lot of debate, your choice.

I used a MODINE 951 from NAPA with a lifetime warranty. I never get above 167 when it is 70 degrees out. One of the best mods(except alky) I ever made. Good luck. Brad

Yep here is the part number:

1987 CHEVROLET CAMARO V8 5.7 Liter Radiator:
Part # 433918: 26 1/4 x 17 1/4 x 1 3/8 = 622 cu. in.
