got her on the street today for the first time, eased into running great, she purrrdddd and i was happpyyyy. so happy i gave 3/4 throttle she stumbled and fell face first in the parking lot. let off and she perked rite up but then eased into her she pulled gr8. but u kno i had 2 try again and again she went down, so gave up put her in the garage again must continue with the research as to why she wont go!! so i am asking anyone if they may have a few parts they wanna sell, ie adjustable fpr, maybe some sort of scan tool to help me out. things i kno have been done to her are: she has new lower end bored 40 over, home head port job, walbro 340 pump hotwired, te44 turbo adapted for HA car, stock throttle body, stock maf, egr block off plate, turbo tweak chip, 50lb injectors,
things i am going to do today: recheck tps again, 87 accel coil pack?(anybody know if these are good coils?) then Cry Cry Cry!!!
future dreams! lt1 maf and translater, 87 ecm, and a great running grocery getter!!

any and all advice will be considered as valuable knowledge for a beginner to understand these cars, anyone in central IL willing to comeby next week i would pay for gas i live near peoria il

Thanx Jay

I don't have the parts you need, but your setup is definitely in need of an adjustable fuel pressure regulator and fuel pressure gauge. A TT chip, Walbro 340 and 50 lb injectors are a combo that can’t run right with a stock fuel pressure regulator.

Jay I remember years ago the **** was doing some testing and they had a plastic MAF pipe(this was on an 87)and when they would punch it it would collapse on them and choke the car. May wanna look into that especially with a TE44 turbo sucking the air in. I know the stock 84/85 is plastic I believe.

I had the same problem and my car was running way to rich........so bad at like 80 mph under full throttle it would choke and die. Like said before get a adjustable fuel pressure regulator? I had a problem with my air filter collapsing......and the car would just stop like it hit a wall. Would probably be the same feeling if the plastic tube collapsed.
What type of gauges are you running to monitor you car? Knock? Boost? Temp? Fuel pressure? You also need a scan tool. You can get OTC 2000 or OTC 4000 pretty cheap on ebay. Might find an adjustable fuel pressure regulator too. -Nick.

Verify the MAF and TPS. Make sure they read what they need to.
Of course, for the MAF, you need the scan tool.

Don't forget the simple things like grounds and battery wires to starter. I had a similar issue and it ended up being the hot wire from battery to starter. Car was fine most of the time, but every once in a while (I assume when the motor rocked over) the battery lead would ground out against the hot header. Was an intermittant problem like you are talking about.
