ok info freaks, who has or knows where to get the factory specs
for front and rear coil springs, by crossing over the info printed on
the tags attached to the springs themselves.
thanks jerome

In the parts catalog 44W.
Section 7.412
Starts on page 7-11
Revised Spring Charts

thanks silver 6
could you be more specific on what parts catalog 44w is ?
is this available at a gm dealer? in any case thanks for the lead.
im hoping to get close the first time when replacing my front coils.
ive looked at most of the suggested lists. not to flame all the
effort put into them, but it seems that some of the info doesnt crosscheck from list to list. so............ im trying this approach
thanks again jerome

hello silver6

jerome here,
what or where can i get the 44w manual you speak of?
thanks

A 44W book is a big, old, 6" thick of paper reference that the parts counter guys used to use before microfiche came along...

Give me your spring codes from your trunk label or the springs themselves and I'll see if I can dig up the P/N's for ya...

:D

Strikeeagle,
If ya grab the part numbers for the stock front n rear springs would you post em here as I am looking to get a new set of stock springs all the way around.

Thanks in advance.

The springs on my 87T have been swapped out for Moogs in the front and an unknown brand of cargo coils in the rear. I wanted to order a set of GM stock springs and Zak Klein helped me out. He was the parts manager at his family's Buick dealership and for many years he was a main supplier to the gnttype list members, like me.

Zak took the tag numbers from a known original GN and converted them to part numbers. This is what he sold me;

Both fronts the same,
14029396 spring 7.412

Driver side rear,
485734 spr coil 7.503

Passenger side rear,
485727 spr coil 7.503

The rear passenger side is visibly shorter than the driver side due to it being a stiffer spring.

Maybe someone else can confirm these, but this is what I will be using when I rebuild my suspension.

codes from tags on springs

thanks silver6.
here are the two codes im trying to decipher
"ADZ " and the other one is " DYK"
gm part numbers will be fine but what im really after are the designed specs for these springs, i.e. overall free lenghth, rate per inch, spring force at installed height, load height. if i can get that info, i can do the math and match up the correct aftermarket
replacement.
some may say to call moog or look at a couple of the lists on
monte ss.com. i have and there seems to be a few bits of info that that dont match between the lists themselves. no flame intended. im just a little more pickey than some.

in any case thanks
jerome

I hope someone gives you the part numbers to match your codes, but the part numbers in the manual do not provide specification on the springs themselves. In the charts they just llist the springs in order from weaker to stronger, but do not provide data on each spring.

Moog may be able to take the part numbers and cross reference them to a Moog part. From Moog then you could get the specificatins from their company charts.

What seems like a simple thing, can take a lot of research.

thanks again silver 6

thank you too strike eagle
if you do come up with p/ns that will be fine also. i will take silver 6's advise and try to have moog cross reference them.

thanks again guys
