Ok. I just landed a factory new AC Delco alternator. It has a black fan (the old style) but has a gold pulley and gold center stripe thingy (i dont know what its called). As I look thru more pictures, I start seeing more Buicks with black pulleys and black center stripe (on the aluminum body)
1. Is Delco the OEM for our alternators back in '87?
2. I know that a lot of stuff can vary during one production run, but what have you guys seen the most of? The gold or black appointments? Please describe the pulley, fan, and the stripe that separates the two sides of the casing. Thanks guys.

I just bought one of those Delco alternators as well. I didn't like the gold pulley and stator (your 'stripe' :p) so I disassembled the alternator and painted the stator black. I masked the pulley and painted it black as well. The OE fan was silver but I left the new one black as it looks OK.

Here's a factory alternator...
