Yesterday when I tried to leave a cruise, my horn started honking, park lights flashed and car wouldn't start until I disconected the battery and hooked it back up. I've owned the car 6 months and this has never happened before. Is this part of the Security light function? If so, does anyone know were to get instructions on how to operate it? I don't have a owners manual. Thanks.

To turn off the security system, the key must be used in the door lock. That is what turns it off. If that didn't work, ........ Could be a short in the hookup to the door lock.

AND to activate it you push the door lock to the LOCK position-

ive seen where the factory system wont work because one of the 2 door lock switches had a short in them-

HTH

Thanks for the info. The windows were down when my little girl hit the lock button, so when I unlocked it by pulling up on the knob it didn't get turned off by the key.

something simular happened to me recently. My factory alarm never worked in the 5 years I had it and the previous owner owned it another 2 years and it never worked for him either..
One day I parked it in front of my house and walked in the house and heard a horn honking but thought nothing.. Prolly a neighbors car. My wife said it was the GN .. I said NO way. my alarms dead.
Guess what? she was right. It started working again after 7 years of dormacy!!
The only way to stop it was to disconnect the battery.. Other wise the car would not start to put it away. I located the control module under the dash and removed it and killed the factory alarm for good:)
