I'm running a stock 87gn and I got the rear main seal replaced at my mechanics, and I just drove it home, when at high boost it will sputter and fall flat, loosing all acceleration and it sounds like its caughing. I thing the wastegate is opening prematurely or something but really I have no clue. Any and all help appreciated.

Do you have a scanmaster? What are your O2's like? Give us some more info on your car and you say stock, but is there anything done to it, whats boost set to, do you have a fuel pressure gauge? Hard to help Flyin Blind!

Highly unlikely a wastegate problem. Probably the fuel pump dying or the coil pack/ign. module laying down. You MUST check the fuel pressure and make sure it's not DROPPING when you get in the boost.... or else you will soon be starting a new headgasket how-to thread... easy on the gas until you get this sorted..... fuel pressure should rise from base (setting with vac. hose off the regulator, idling - typically 43 psi-ish), rising exactly 1 psi for every 1 psi of boost. Thus, at 15 psi boost, fuel pressure should be 43 + 15 = 58 psi. Substitute your base and boost numbers. No way to verify this without a fuel pressure gage attached to a hose so you can tape it (or whatever) to the windshield and read it while driving. This test is MANDATORY, as is some sort of scan tool to monitor sensors.... your mechanic will have the fp test rig if you must use him....

Ya I thought it could be the fuel pump dying, but the previous owner had a new fuel pump and coil pack/ignition module installed almost a year ago. So they shouldn't go yet. I even have the reciepts. Maybe I need a duel fuel pump with a hotwire kit?

And I don't have a scanner but I intend on getting one within a few months.

About a year ago is when everybody was getting the faulty 069 walbro pumps... sounds like you may have gotten one second hand... No, you don't need to go crazy with dual pumps.... a properly functioning single walbro WITH HOTWIRE will be all you need for a stock-ish setup and way beyond.... hotwire kits are MANDATORY for any TR.... and my above post still applies... the fp test MUST be performed before you run the car hard any more....

Beginning of a "parting out" ad???

Key phrase here: "within a few months."
Continue beating on it, and the next key phrase will be "you will soon be starting a new headgasket how-to thread".

Take the advice, and stay out of the "high boost".

You were driving it home from the mechanic's shop? The mechanic may have taken it for a "spirited" test drive and a blown a head gasket. Maybe when you got it back you leaned on it a little hard and blew a head gasket. Check your oil to see if it is milky looking. If that is ok, do a compression check.

If all the mechanic did was replace the RMS you shouldn't be having this issue.

mine does the same thing just started out of the blue. still havent figures it out replaced everything.

check your plugs.mine just did the same thing. drove home and shut it off everything fine get in the next day and once i get to 3000 rpm sputter.plugs fixed mine

Good possiblility.

I would go over all the basics first, make sure vac lines are connected and in good condition, make sure all the connectors are secure. Then with a SCANTOOL see what the readings are. You could have a mis-adjusted TPS or maybe a sensor is getting flakey. Do some homework before you rip on the car and it will last longer. Also put some info in your sig so we know what your working with.

Where do you guys recommend I get a scanmaster? Are there any retail stores who sell them in ontario canada? Or should I get it online.

I don't intend to be another liv4gns, I just don't have much room for spending since I spent so much to get the damn car.

Anright I started small by replacing the fuel filter, and its become harder to get the car to do it and sometimes it even won't, so I'm thinking fuel pump.

and its become harder to get the car to do it and sometimes it even won't,

I sure hope 'getting the car to do it' DOES NOT mean you are beating on the car causing it to 'stumble/fall flat on it's face/sound like it's coughing'..... If so, I'll casually watch this trauma unfold from afar...

Fix the car before you window the block. Get a scan tool first. There are tons of vendors to get a scanmaster from.

Its nor fixed. I still don't know what it is. I can't afford to go into valve springs. But I do have more info. Its backfiring in the exhaust manifold. And its lack of fuel which is the problem.

Hmmmm, wonder what could be wrong?
