its stock so it should be 15. it hasnt been fooled around with.

This assummes it is. Without a boost gauge on the car you dont know. If you guess with boost you will eventually guess wrong and blow a head gasket or worse. Its bad enough you dont have a scantool and are watching for "KNOCK".. you got your first warning..blown plug.. next time its going to get expensive.

Blown tips off of plugs are detonation.. Its either the plug, headgasket, piston, or block. When it detonates something is going to go. Its pretty violent to damage a plug.

So a 20 year old car with 20 year old vacuum hoses.. all it takes is one hose and kaboom. It is very easy to overboost one of these engines. You cant trust the factory gauge, you cant trust "feelings", you can only trust a mechanical gauge. And anyone reading this if you plan on boosting better have one or at the very least confirm the stock one works as should.

If not you'll be doing a rebuild next. It is what it is.

None of my plugs physically looked damaged. Ill be getting a scantool soon. I just spent a crap load of money on the car itself. Its gonna take some time to get all the things I need.

A cheap 30.00 boost gauge can save you 5K rebuild. You can get an audible knock detector for like 50.00 from caspers.

Not big $$

You always have good advice.

The reason my plug looked like that was a fluke, the alternator went boom mid pass and caused a hiccup that lead to a nice big backfire. If I would have just looked at the plugs when that happened I wouldnt have been chasing the problem for as long as I did.

Thanks. Just sometimes we have folks new to these cars and a little tough love is the recipe.

Be glad that backfire only took out the plug

Wildcat Performance built this motor. Without a doubt I will say they build bullet proof motors. If the same thing would have happened to a stock motor they would be looking at replacing the head gaskets. For that, I am thankful I spent the money and got it built right. :D
