fan relay

When I shut off my car the other night the fan stayed on and wouldnt shut off. I removed the high speed fan relay and it stopped. I tried replacing the relay because the old one was making a loud clicking noise when I started the car. I still have a loud clicking noise after replacing the relay. The fan does shut off now but I was wondering what would cause this relay to continually make this clicking noise?

Mine was doing the same thing until I plugged in the coolant temperature switch located on the passenger side of the block under the uppipe, green wire with spade type connector, pretty hard to get to. Don't know if that did it, but it stopped.

No mods to the wiring harness, I do have the new style maf and translator..

Thanks for the info. Once I found the hp switch the fix was easy. It was a wire grounding..Repaired it, thanks for the input.
