Who has the fastest caged and non caged T-Top turbo buick. Im wondering if i should start building to shoot for that title. My plans are:

109 block.. Girdled
Forged Pistons, Stock crank, Stock rods
Billet Roller cam, Morel lifters
GN1 Aluminum heads
Champion ported intake
Precision Turbo's New 71 HPQ Billet Wheel Turbo
TH400w transbrake
RJC megacooler
FAST XFI
Ill try to tune on 1 Alky nozzle, if not, ill run c16

Tuned right, i should be able to hit 9.80s at 150ish and then see if the t-tops hold without a cage.
What do you guys think?

Mine is a T top car and I think the real issue with T tops is the 60'. I am in the mid 1.50s and I dont know if I want to launch it any harder. I am looking at actually tuning and setting the twostep to get @ 1.6 as that is my comfort zone without a cage. I know there are some very fast and powerful non-caged T top cars out there. I have all the extra chassis bolt in help (jounce, GNX bars in the trunk) and the "X" or 7th body bushing. That helped a lot. I think as long as the 60' is kept in check then our chassis can go a long way. Good Luck with it. I have to get my Syclone motor done before I start pushing on the Buick any more. Just too many projects. Jon

150mph is low 9's, high 8's mph BTW
I've been 9.86@137 with a 1.45 60' without a cage, or any extra braces, just poly body mounts. I have been in the 1.4's for 3 years, 2 of them running in the 10's. At 130mph, my passenger window pops out. A friend of mine has gone high 8's with a 6 point bar.

I was thinking 150ish for high 9's since my car weighs a little over 4000lbs. The car is pretty tight right now. My 60ft have been in the 1.60's before and the t tops held up pretty well. Im thinking with the TH400 and the transbrake i can hit 1.40 safely with the t tops. Im concerned about the speed. around 120 ish on the highway the damn t tops sound like they want to fly off. Can i maybe tape them down and make them more aerodynamic so they dont catch air?

Im eventually going to do a twin turbo v8 build on my limited with t-tops with a cage...Sooo how fast are the caged guys going? Isnt jason at RJCs car a t top car running 8s?

well I hate to brag, but 0 to 60 in 8 seconds aint to shabby for this ol buick

BTW If anyone in the B4 section reads this, that was a long Time ago, Ive learned to become a more responsible driver:redface:

You'll have to shoot for fastest V6 buick powered g body. If I recall correctly, chris chow's car had t tops. Also IIRC, it was the fastest stock suspension g body EVER.

I think your MPH is way optimistic... I think you'll have a hard time coming within 10mph of that number.

I don't think that is the case. There are several DR cars that have gone faster. It may be the fastest T-Top G body.

If getdowngranny runs 150mph at 4000 pounds, he will have the most powerful 109 I have ever come across. That should easily be over 1000hp

Wow. I guess i set my goals too high with the 109. Maybe i should start shopping around for a stage2 block. I guess if i want to do it right, i should build it right the first time. I need deeper pockets for that stage2 though. I was hoping to stay on a $10-12K budget, thats why i chose to stick with plans for the 109. Stage 2 would gear me up closer to $15-20k for the amount of power i need to push my 4000 pound buick in the 9's.

No, I think you can definitely put that car in the high-9s with that 109 block. Been done lots of times. But it will probably be a 9.90@138 or close to it at that weight. And you'll be using everything that turbo has.

How do these cars weight 4,000lbs. my car has every option available and tips the scales at 3,660 with me in it. I have t-tops, air, cruise, tilt, pw, pdl, power seat, spare tire, jack, lug wrench, etc.. ****, i've raced my car and forgotten to take out my sons car seat and the cooler in the trunk.. LOL And it still doesn't hit 4,000 lbs.

Some will say a T Top car hooks better than a hardtop. I dont think I can argue. My T Top car has been 1.42 60's on regular old all season street tires!
