Later this month, I'm planning to finally get my car back from the painter. I've seen some photos, and the paint is absolutely perfect. But, like everyone else on here, I do a lot of work on my own car. So, I'm in the market for a good quality set of fendor protectors to replace the Autozone specials that I've been using for years.

Anybody out there have a set they would recommend? Things I'm looking for:

1. Obviously, the #1 requirement is that they don't scratch my new paint!
2. Don't slide off (I have that problem with the cheap ones I use now).
3. Features like pockets to hold tools, etc.

Also, does anybody make a good protector that goes over the header panel? I find myself leaning over the front of my car quite a bit as well.

If anybody has good experience with fendor/header protectors from one of our vendors, I would love to hear about it.

Thanks,

I use an big ol' thick bed comforter.

It can be crammed into corners or behind stuff to make stay it in place and it can be used to protect parts, it's big enough to cover most areas and is adaptable to any shape, it never scratches anything and best of all, it was free and a new one is never hard to get!

'course, I am a bit of a redneck................

Here's a link to the best one I've seen. I've got one of these. It's the "original" and has been copied by many over the years.

Barb & Bill Savino sell these at "Special Additions". Works great and has stood up to years of use and abuse.

I'm am very happy with it and can highly recommend it.

Has saved many scratches on my car.

Looks the same as GN1, but Scotts has pockets on the side...

I must say, that think is pretty dang slick........

My buddy makes the wrap around fender cover for our cars and sells them through Scot. It's a great product and we all have one here and they are well worth the money. I wouldn't use anything else. Get with Scot at GNS Performance and he can hook you up. ;)

Wow, both the GNS one and the Special Additions one look very nice. Decisions, decisions. Thank you all very much for the turning me on to these!

One question on the GNS one... Is there a vent in front of the grill to let air in while the car is running? It's hard to tell from the picture on the web site, there's something there, but I can't tell for sure if its a vent or not.

My engine spends more time running with the hood up than with the hood down...

Thanks,

Mike

The one on the GNS website was acually taken using my car. That one didn't have a vent when that picture was taken. You can request a vent screen be added to it (I think now they all come with it, but I'm not sure) and if one is added, it covers almost all of the front grill area. I currently own the one Barbara made and looking at them side by side, they look identical exept, GNS covers are made of thicker material so if you drop something slightly heavier on the fender you have less chance of damaging the car. The other difference is, my grill cutout on my Special Additions one is smaller than the GNS cover. It still works fine, but it's just smaller. Hope this helps :)
