Just wondering on how the quality of the fiberglass Bumpers are, and how do they hold up? Are they a good quality fiberglass?

Thanks Brandon.

where are you looking to buy from? I bought some off ebay for my last one and they needed some work before painting them. I had the Fiberglass in the front and the ABS in the back...theyre kinda "flemsy" but worked ok..If you dont mind a small amount of bondo work to smooth them out then i would go abs.

I had an old ATR fiberglass front bumper, never put it on as I drive a lot and they 1. get damaged at any slight hit or if someone sits on it, and 2. provides zero crash safety and a low speed crash can take our your front end and a high speed crash can take you out...

so the abs provide safety? I think the last thing during a high speed crash i would rely on would be my bumper fillers lol

the fiberglass bumpers i got from gbodyparts are of great quality, they will always need prep work from a good bodyshop but they will look great when finished.

they will not hold up to any type of crash, even a slight bump could probably crack them, has nothing to do with the quality of how its made- just the nature of the material.

I have old ATR one's down in my basement from the early 90's and they came out of the box looking pretty good with little touch up work needed for painting. Unless you have really good paint on your car they looked acceptable right out of the box, especially at night from about 25 feet - just like my ex.. ;)

They are pretty fragile though.. A small *stone*, as in gravel, put a nice crack in my front bumper when it came out of a trucks tire on the highway. It was easy enough to fix but it just showed how fragile that thing is. No way it provides any protection in an accident.. I put the original bumpers back on and got an aluminum inner support from some other car that took a bit of weight off the entire unit (dunno how much weight came off but it was noticeable picking the things up...)

Thanks Guys. I don't think they are for me than. Just looking at shaving a bit of weight. The 30 some odd pounds a bumper sounded too good to be true. Think I will stick with just the hood and trunk.

Brandon.

You can shave some weight by swapping out the steel inner bumper support for an aluminum one. It's a good compromise for a street car.
