So instead of removing the fuse for this or the harness for that...just unplug this and crank away...
Right?

Aight.
But go easy on that whole "crank away" thing.
No starter motor is designed for continuous duty - and don't use that function as some sort of catch all for trying to diagnosis oiling problems or other things that might hurt your motor.
Just use common sense.

And oh - apply some dielectric grease in that connection on both sides, as well as the clip that holds the fusible link.
This is a twitchy prone connection and can come and go - symptoms being car just "dies" - then will restart, when that "dongle" flops around under launch or such

Also keep in mind - that for some chips - disconnecting this power source will lose your timing / tune setups or such. I don't have that problem - but it can be something to keep in mind.
That's probably why you see some guys disconnecting other things and leaving the ECM powered up.

Just a crank till some pressure shows...
Any extended cranking will be done with the plugs removed.

I use a mechanical under hood 1-1/4"" gauge and an regular AutoMeter in-console gauge for both oil pressure.
I like to see the mechanical gauge while I'm futzing around under the hood - and to cross check the electrical gauge.
However, for just oil changes - I've rarely given either of them two seconds thought.
I hate to over think things too much.
And the one downside to having the multiple gauges - is - more points of failure on a critical system.

I always fill mine up to the top, and let it settle/bubble down. My technique is the same as everyone elses, except I don't clean it up off of the intercooler bracket. Car builds character that way

Holy waking an old thread up from the dead, Batman!!!!!!!!

These oil threads are always so enlightening..........

I also fill my oil filter about 3/4 full, make shore the filter element gets all saturated inside then I screw it in .Very little comes out,I don't think is a good idea put it on dry that's my opinion.

I fill mine, then tip it from side to side as the filter soaks the oil up. Once it is at the 3/4 mark and steady,I throw a rag underneath and screw it on.

Stock location with a quality filter used with "biggie" oil filter kit.
