What is a good clean way to patch the hole in a roof from one of those pop-up moon roofs? If i remove the moon roof and weld a patch panel in, the roof is not going to have the flex like it should. I'm worried that it will just crack after i paint it.

Go to a wrecking yard and cut the center out of a hard top Regal.:)(Not with a torch but a nibler or something) Then it will fit the contour right instead of a flat panel and have the strength. This is the only way to go after someone does this IMHO;)

Yea i don't know why people cut holes in the roof to install these crappy moon roofs. I was thinking of cutting the roof 5inches from the edges on my car and replacing the hole roof. That way when i weld the replacement, the weld will be 5 inches from the edge where the roof doesn't flex.

Really the best way is to take the top off a dooner car at the leed seams and replace the whole roof with a solid one:)

ok I need more info on how to replace the roof, i want to do this sometime soon.

If you are going to just replace the part that is cut out make sure that you get the roof bows that where cut to put the sunroof in. But the best way to fix the roof is to replace the whole roof. I would find a good donor car then have your body shop tell you or the salvage yard where they want the roof cut at. They will probably want it cut 1/2 way down the wind sheild pilar. And below the factory seam on the sail panel.

anyone know of a good shop in IL that can give me a estimate or take a look at it and let me know what my options are?
