Finally got my Jet-Hot Extreme coated parts in!

If or when they dull. Until now any thing silver and shinny has aluminum
in it and it starts to burn over 1200-1300 deg. Thats metal temp.
I know some of our cars see 1600-1700 deg in places.
Thats why I'm trying to gather info for our cars.

I think the gimmick part is in the claimed heat range the coating will take.
1700 EGT. then metal temp. 1500? Maybe. Even if it turns or fades they still
call it good as long as it is functional.
You can keep this from happening with a true thermal barrier under the top coat. of a material. Most thermal barriers are as ugly as sin. and will only drop
skin temp about 400 deg max. But this would slow or even stop the fade.
And drop under hood temps. But there is no money in doing it because it is so labor intense on the material cost are double.

Parts are beautiful Ronnie! I believe the original Jet-Hot sterling is only good to 1300 degrees. But this Extreme Sterling is supposed to be Jet-Hots latest break through which is supposed to withstand up to 1700 degrees. I guess I will be the test dummy. As I said though, my main priority was keeping underhood temps down.
For the previous poster that read about Jet-Hot being a gimmick, I disagree with that completely. If you have ever tried to touch a jet hot coated downpipe as opposed to a non jethot coated downpipe about 10 minutes after running, you will definitely notice a difference when you put your hand on it.

Geee..all these pretty pics and I forgot to show my TA's off that I had coated by Nitroplate. Supposed to be good to 1500 degrees. I was very pleased by the work and cost. $145 to do the headers.
I can tell you that the ceramic coating does a great job keeping the temps down. I feel very little heat coming off the headers.

Rmar, do you happen to know what HPC uses in their Hypercoating??
My turbo exhaust housing is pretty faded already with only 1k miles on it.
Yet the headers are ok??
I think they didn't do the inside of the turbo housing but did the inside of the headers which might be why.

My headers dull very quickly. They look ok but not awesome either. I would have them JetHot 2000 but they only come in red,blue,black not sterling silver thats the there downfall. Still great to have them JetHotted though u can work on your car in minutes insted of waiting for the headers to cool down to work on your car

if they had yellow i would do my headers colored like the power 6 logo !

Jet Hot 2000 Black Coating
The extreme silver does look nice....but I went with the Black Jet Hot 2000 Coating on my DP. Just got this done in July / August....I believe it only cost me $165.
It has stood up beautifully and I am really pleased. It matches my Kenne Bell Headers which were already Black Jet Hot 2000 . They claim it's good for 2100 deg F? Had them do the inside as well as outside of DP. They don't recommend coating the inside of headers on turbo cars (just in case there is any flaking....don't want to destroy the turbo). This coating is not smooth...has a rough texture to it....almost like sandpaper, but does stand up well.
All I know is that it seems to really reduce the under hood temps. And we all know what effect this has on HP.
From my own personal experience.....I'd highly recommend Jet HOt 2000coating to anyone considering.
As a point of interest......I had a THDP coated locally by Fireball coatings in Erin Ontario in black satin hi temp finish and it did not stand up to the heat at all.....flaking and fading..so would not use them again!

Holding up great, considering the car isn't together yet and hasn't been run. Hopefully this year. <---yeah right, I've been saying that for the past 5 years.

Did not take any pictures of the pipe before it was installed. Here'a a pic of it on the car....don't know if it shows you enough detail clearly. The KB Headers were gently used when I got them and I touched them up with a can of VHT high temp black coating myself.....you can see the difference in colour.....DP was used for the full season on a daily driver and has about 5,000mi on it.
