Well after this long summer I finally finished completing my suspension rebuild this past weekend and now have new Energy Suspension body bushings, gabriel shocks on all four corners (I know I know), CC627 springs in the rear, 5606 springs in the front, new front end rebuild with new control arm bushings, ball joints, tie rods, and idler arm. I also added new brakes rotors and carbon metallic pads, along with s10 wheel cylinders and soft long rear brake shoes with new hoses all around and a full flush of the brake fluid. After all of this I went ahead and put on my new 009 injectors with chip from turbotweak but this has led me to a new problem. Of course it's not suspension related as I am going to get AAA to tow it to an alignment shop for me tomorrow and get that all straightened out. My problem comes after the injector install. I turn the key and the fuel pump comes on like always, car even runs and idles fine, but I think there is a vacuum leak. It must be coming from the fuel line, adj fpr, fp gauge, etc. because there is a loud SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS when I turn the key coming from the motor not cranking it over. It is still present with the motor running as well. I checked my vacuum hoses first and they all were tight and at idle it shows 14'' of vacuum like it always has. When in D it shows a little above 10''. Not great but that's how it always was so I know there can't be a new leak right? I tried to check with the long hose to your ear method and guide it around the motor but no real luck. It's really loud and you can hear the hiss from 10 feet away from the car. There is no leaking fuel visible or anything like that but I'm starting to wonder what on my fuel system is actually leaking. Any clues?

Your not gonna have a vacuum leak without the car running.

Your fuel system is not leaking either...you would not have fuel pressure and you would have gas spraying all over the intake..it would be obvious to you if that was the case.

Is the sound the same with the key on, engine not running and then when you start it do you have the exact same sound?

A vacuum leak loud enough to hear 10 feet away from the car would make it idle so rough it would probably die. Give us more input....

Yes it is the same noise when the car is off with the key on and when the motor is running. I have fuel pressure and no fuel seems to be spraying anywhere. When I turn the motor on it starts to do it in intervals of 5-10 seconds, then off for 5-10 seconds, then hissing again. Not always that regular but you get the idea. When I just have the key turned it takes a few seconds for it to start hissing and then usually stays hissing the entire time the key is on with a few sputters here and there. I assumed it couldn't be a vacuum leak because I remember installing the emissions equipment and some hoses were lose and I had like 1'' of vacuum and the car would constantly die. It must be something on my fuel rail though because I didn't change anything else?

check your O rings on your injectors, I suspect one is cracked.

Serious! Man when I first installed the injectors the middle one on the passenger side cracked the o-ring going to the fuel rail somehow so I replaced it with one of my old o-rings from the injectors I took off. When that was cracked it was spilling fuel everywhere. I replaced it and there are no more leaks but if I have to check my injectors again that's gonna be a PITA. Those things don't like to come off and idk any better way to take them off then undo the fuel rail and coil pack screws and pry up with a couple screw drivers to pop them off. Anyone have any other ideas before I go ahead and try this? There are no leaks, so air would just creep through with a cracked o-ring?

Found out it's my adjustable fuel pressure regulator o-ring. It was torn so i replaced it with a new one. However, after bolting it up with the new o-ring it still makes the hissing noise. If I try to push it in even more the hissing becomes a lower tone but still roughly the same loudness. So, does this mean my AFPR has a leak or I am just not getting the right seal somehow? I chekcedthe connection 3 times and pulled it off again all three times to see if there was a tear on the new o-ring and there isn't. No fuel is leaking but perhaps it is throwing off the accuracy of my fuel pressure gauge?

The afpr could be bad but I would double check the injectors.

Ok, I found out the FPR is not fully pressed into the fuel rail. The o-ring is in there so no fuel is spraying but some air or suction is definately leaking. There is a white thing after the o-ring on the FPR and it is not fully inside the hole. So, I guess I have to figure out how to bend it in there since the metal line connecting at the bottom won't let me bend it at all. Perhaps I'll take it off and then try to screw that on once it is attached.

I'm beginning to wonder if this leak or whatever it is could be causing my high BLM problem. I recently had a MAL 45 until I replaced the old stock injectors with new 009's and a turbo tweak chip. Needless to say an injector was stuck open and the oil was full of fuel (crap, gonna have to rebuild one day). Changed the injectors out and installed the new chip and car idles great and has good power delivery. When I first installed it the blm's were 147 but after a brief 20 minute drive around town they have settled down to 135. My fuel pressure is set at 43-44 psi line off which drops to about 36-38 psi line on (I'm guessing since my fuel pressure gauge is in 5 number increments).

Here are my scanmaster readings and they all seem within spec except the blm's.

AF: 05
LB: 34-35
INT: 128
BLM: 135
CLT: 165
ATS: 105
RPM: 825-850
TPS: .42
IAC: 11-12
CC: 75
Vacuum: 14.5''
Oil Pressure: 30-35 psi

Vacuum seems low, I think it should be more close to 20'' right? But it's always been there.
