First Eagle Cranks?

Anyone Know What Was Wrong With Some Of The First Cranks Eagle Produced Or A Sub Contrctor Produced For Them. I Heard It Had Something To Do With The Maching On The Rear Main Seal Surface On The Crank. Does Anyone Have A Production Number Or Any Info On This Issue??

The first ones were not knurled where the rear main is that is usually for a rope seal. later ones are

Also heard that 1 of the four machines that did the finall grinding was alittle off and some journals were alittle out of spec. Mine was OK,you dont need the knurl unless you using a rope rear seal.
