Dave,
I hear ya, but this board is a bunch of guys and so naturally we are a little protective of the women. I'm sure that she doesn't want to be labled as a "female pow", just a "pow".

You got that right about thanking god, It was out military that saved her behind, but I'm not planting any sloppy kisses on the navy seals!! ;)

What does her being female have to do with it? male, female, black, brown, yellow, white, or orange. She is an American Military person defending our country. To say she is more important because she is a female and was captured, degrades those who have given their lives in the present and the past.
Dave

Do you think Saddams criminals treat a 19 year old, 110 pound blond differently than a 200 pound male POW. I certainly do. As a parent, who has a daughter, all kinds of things were running through my mind. None of this was meant to degrade, or diminish all that the rest of our soldiers have done. It just hurts me to see ANY female taken prisoner by a group of barbarians like these, for obvious reasons. Put yourself in her Dad's place. It would be bad if either of my two sons were taken prisoner also, but you know your sons will probably not be sexually assaulted, just tortured. I think both were probably inflicted on her.

I'm not gonna kiss any Seals either.:D

To say she should make money because she was a captured female is .....

Look at it from this direction. A lot of "females" became instant celeberities (and therefore made money) for doing less than honorable things lately. Monica Lewinsky, Tonya Harding, Darva whatever, Amy Fisher, Anna Nicole, etc. :( That's disrespectful to females everywhere. Fame isn't fair.

This will be one made for TV movie worth watching, with a happy ending. :) I bet the networks are already auditioning actresses.

Just found this. Looks like she will get her college education.

"Taking Care of Pfc. Jessica Lynch:
Officials and universities in and around West Virginia are already stepping up help rescued POW Pfc. Jessica Lynch.

To help Lynch reach her goal of becoming a kindergarten teacher, West Virginia and Marshall universities and Liberty College in Lynchburg, Va., offered her competing packages Wednesday.

And West Virginia Gov. Bob Wise said the state would finance Lynch's education at a state public college or university of her choosing.

"She wants to become a teacher, and we are going to see that she becomes one," he said after visiting the Lynch family at home.

If you're tired of writing Nicholas DeGenova take a moment to thank Govenor Bob Wise for stepping up and doing the right thing."

Yeah - if you see my post in the Jessie Lynch thread - the ambassador of Kuwait to the US is buying her a new car since they heard she needed a new one.

Re: I dont get it.

Oh, and before you go thanking god for saving them I would go plant a big sloppy kiss on every member of that seal team.

I prefer to still thank God and hope he's watching over all of them...

Re: Re: I dont get it.

Whatever works for you, personally I I were her and had my choice of waiting for god to come get me out or a seal team, Ill take a seal team any day.

Guess there isn't room for both in your world, eh? Its either one or the other.

Personally I would thank God and the Seal Team. I would also thank the President. This is the first successful recovery of a POW in enemy territory since WWII.

Is that true? Wow, hard to believe we didn't do it once in Vietnam, and that was 10 years!

Remember Lt Brady?.

Lots of downed chopper pilots, and AF pilots were rescued in Nam.

Must be some technicality. I heard it again today. They still say this the first successful recovery of a POW in enemy territory since WWII.

Maybe the others weren't "war"? So they can't be prisoners of war?

Don't know - just relaying what I heard - it does seem odd though.
