I bought this car to part out on Ebay for $1,000.00, it was a true barnyard find. I kept driving past it and one day asked them if they would sell it, I was driving my beater S10. They told me how rare it was and yadda, yadda, yadda, and to come back when the man of the house was home. So I go back later in my 86 T and told them I would give them $1,000.00 for it, they called me back in a half hour and I had a tow truck there 30 minutes later. :D

The Before pics I'm posting are the day I picked it up, as you can see it was too nice to part out, but had a horrible rod knock. I decided right then and there to sell my 86 and build this one up. Unfortunately I didn't make the money I do now then, or else I would have just used my 86 for the donor, but I digress.

It is coming along nicely, but I need more time. I have all the parts I need pretty much, a few hiccups are slowing me down but I should have those resolved this week. Once I get back from Jamaica next week  I plan on doing a few midnight rally's to get it up and running. Well here you go. Excuse the mess, my life is hectic right now with way too many projects going on.

Now

In the prime, everything removed to a full color change to Dark Garnet Red, no chrome bumpers or anything. GNX flares and louvers, custom TNX badges too.

Interior, I have grey door panels to bring it all in.

Engine, you can barely see my silver 23 row stretch stock location gbodyparts I/C in the corner. Everything is silver, I wanted a monochromatic machined look and I think I achieved it thus far.

Wheels, SLP Hyperknight ZR1's with 245 up front, 255 out back.

Well, that's it for now.

My old SSEi in the background, I miss that car but the 3800SC is no LC2.
I painted my 86 in the background myself as well, but I haven't decided if I am shooting this one or not. I waffle back and forth on a day to day basis.

Everything is coming out, sheesh, what did I do to myself?? :o

yay for a WH1, but what color are you painting the exterior? keeping the 2 tone?

No, solid Dark Garnet Red is my color of choice, already bought the paint. Building this one to be the one I have dreamed about since 1986. I ditched the WH1 spoiler as well.

cool, cool. Surprisingly yours wont be the only WH1 painted dark red to match the interior. Sounds like a sweet project, cant wait to see the results

That car looks great, you even pained the bumpers too. Fear not though, yours will still be unique, hopefully mine will too. :D

I like the Designer scheme, but it just wasn't for me, and since it was an 84 I decided to just do what I wanted to do.

Sounds & Looks Cool

who is making/made the custom TNX badges? I always like the ZR1 style wheels too. I thought about buying some of those for my car before i bought my wheels. Ever thought of two toning the car with the Garnet red and some sort of Gray or Silver? :D

I am making the badges, using plaster as a one off mold and casting it in resin. I thought about 2 toning it and even something as simple as a silver pinstripe, but since I am making it a T-type version of the GNX I opted for just plain dark garnet red, the louvers and flares, with 2 TNX badges and the 2 hood emblems as the only exterior stuff done.

oh hell thats not mine  I stuck with the 2 tone on my WH1, but i will admit that car looks amazing. I still can't wait to see how yours turns out!

BTW, anyone know what a LO-JACK system costs? The moment it is road worthy it's getting installed. :) Also, if I decide to use a paint and body shop, it's going there without front seats. My buddy was in the business and he dogged every fast car he could and ever since I am paranoid about that kind of stuff. Luckily, or unluckily, I do most of my own wrenching.

LO-Jack is pretty old. i would try some sort of GPS tracking rather than radio signal. There is a member here on the board that can give you a good deal. Search for GPS.

Sweet! Cant wait to see it all together.

You and I both. :D I'm trying to get past 2 parts hurdles today, after that I can get it off the jackstands and get ready to swap the engine and harness out. I think I am going to drop the pieces I have off the car off to the painter when I get back from Jamaica. That way when I have it running he just has to paint the rolling shell and I can slap this bad boy together. It's been a long time coming.

Those SLP Hyperknight ZR1's are going to be PHAT:cool: I would paint the inside of the wheels the color of the car (Garnet red) and polish the lip and inner wheel. It is going to be a HOT ARSE car... I cannot wait to see it finished... I hope to do the same (I just got my MBA and the COST of Grad school is killing my finances:mad: ) I got some Lear Sigler seats that I plan to use. Keep up the GOOD work and post often
