what would be the best first upgrade
for a stock rear suspension?

this is for better launches, and traction.

It's a toss up between a right side airbag ($40) and boxed or tubular lower control arms ($150-$250). I got both and it seems to hook much better. Your stock rubber bushings are probably shot, and if you're replacing those I would suggest either boxing your stock LCAs, or doing the easy route like I did and go with a tubular set from BMRFabrication complete with poly bushings and the grease fittings. The car rides tons better now. Good luck!

If you can weld you can do the arms yourself. I ran 2 airbags, boxed arms w/ poly bushings and a pinion snubber. Car hooked real good and wheel hop was eliminated. Cost around $120.
