i was trying to find out what most people who buy their first turbo buick do to the car. i keep seeing references to body bushings and a few other things. does anybody have a list for first timers and what they should consider doing to the car to make it more up to date so to speak?

Check out the spring cleaning and tips on www.gnttype.org for a good start. Body bushings help out the ride quality or handling depending on if you want a stiffer ride or not. Fuel system is the most important as the 18 year old fuel pump can barely supply enough fuel new much less after its this old. And pick up a scan tool and read on here and the gnttype website on how to use it, it will be the best investment you'll make.

thanks for the reply. i'm working on the scanmaster since i've had 2 of them in the past for LT1's and liked them. if you can think of anything else beyond general maintenance and tuneup let me know

If you're wanting to make the body more rigid, body bushings and body cross bracing. There's info on gnttype about that too. there are braces to tie the front end into the front quarters, and bracing that goes in back of the back seats that strengthens the body also.

Once you learn how to tune, alcohol injection is your best friend. For around $400 you can add about 100+ horsepower and have it on tap at any time.

ScanMaster, hot wired fuel pump, adjustable fuel pressure regulator and a modern chip if you still have the stock chip. After that make your wastgate arm adjustable from instructions on gnttype.org, tune it up and have some fun.

K&N air filter(the cone type)along with the stuff they said. But looking at the other cars you own im sure you may want it to ride nice and quiet first.

here's what i know about the car:

67k miles
k&n cone filter with kenne bell ram air - not crazy about that setup.
red's 98 chip
adjustable wastegate
bigger garrett turbo....T49 maybe? not positive
has all the bracing as well as the rear seat braces
one airbag in the driver side spring
atr dual exhaust.....biggest pile of junk i've seen on a car in a while
no cat
has a bosch FPR...looks adjustable, haven't really looked at it yet

after i get done doing maintenance and interior restoration items, i will be getting most of what was suggested. at least as a starting point......anybody know who makes a good 3" exhaust???
