I picked up a great condition 4.1 block for effectively free, only catch was no main caps. I have the front three billet main caps on my current 4.1 and the original caps sitting in a box, getting a rear main from somewhere should be easy enough. Since I'm planning on putting some RPM into this build I was planning a girdle and that means bottom end work anyway. Can I just put the used main caps on with the girdle and then have a machine shop clean up the main bores as part of the girdle install? Billet rear main is pretty pricey and the only one that gives me pause as it has the oil pan rail in it so not a lot of room to give it a haircut at the parting line.
