Flag at half staff, how long?

Lowered my flag yesterday after hearing the news about former President Reagan and realized I am not sure how long you leave the flag at half staff. Could someone please tell me when I should raise my flag?

Yes, Thanks for the link.I learned a few things myself.I think I'm gonna go out and get a flag for my house. Flag Day is also coming up soon too. June 14th

I found that link a long time ago when I questioned people putting their flags up the wrong way. I knew the proper way, but saw a lot of people just putting the flag up and having it positioned wrong. But I'm not being critical. I love the fact that so many people show the pride for their colors.. despite their politics.

My flag has been at half staff as well. Make sure it is lit for night time and not flying in inclement weather.

So is it ONLY the pres who can order it to be flown at half mast?

Has Bush ordered it so? I rarely watch the news so I don't know.

Do I have to ask the Pres of my company or can I just run out and do it? I maintain the flag at my company.......

local goverments can give the order as well. i think. i know a former student was killed in the 1st desert storm the flag was lowered to half staff.
