Any fitting problems? I'm still debating on a front mount or a V4.

I had no real problems at all installing it, everything fit well & lined up, plus all the hardware needed to install it was supplied with the kit.

The only fitting prob was where the shield slides over the stabilizer bar. Turned on the Dremel tool and enlarged the openning a little bit. Simple fix, end of conflict. Final grade of v4 fit A-

I left all bolts finger tight and then persuaded it into place and tightened everything. Had a little rattle of scoop against the sway bar in gear with brake on, but some cut up vacuum hose fixed that.

I didn't have any real problems with it rubbing that couldn't be fixed easily.I remember it had a slight rub where the top of the V4 scoop rubbed a little against the plastic air dam,but using an exacto knife,I just had to trim a liitle off the air dam to make it not rub at all.

My experience was the same as everybody else.

I had to cut the plastic shield to give it a little more clearance around the sway bar, but other than that, fit was fine.

I mated mine to the KB one piece Air Dam/Intercooler Scoop/Ram Air and I was able to retain the front frame braces with a little persuation.

The V-4 has been on the car since Sept. of 99 without any problems and it improved spool-up when I switched from my untouched stocker.

I got a couple of tenths out of it and so have most of our club members.

Well I don't have a V4...I have a V4R ....my only problem is getting the inlet pipe and IC to line up perfectly... I think I am just going to get a 45 degree angle silicone hose to make it perfect

Thanks!

I also have the deflector, will this get in the way? Hows the inlet and outlet pipe fitting?

I forgot about that. I had to cut some off of the uppipe at the intercooler end. I don't remember how much though. Mine was the V4. I also had to reclock the turbo compressor housing.

I think engine cooling would enter into that decision also. The front mount will ultimately make more power but may require you to upgrade the cooling system.

The V-4 may give away a little performance but cooling remains unchanged.

Got my V4 today......

I had a question on the shroud. Its a two piece but the bottom of the shroud don't seem to fit properly. Anyone got this problem?

my shroud fit fine, although i aswell needed to enlarge the bar hole, but my pass side frame brace no longer fits, i need to "persuade it" so it can go back on

No point in beating around the bush, I had to beat the hell out of the pass side frame brace to get it to go back on. "Persuasion" did not enter into that at all. ;)

My up-pipe didn't fit right, either. It's not that it needed cut, it is too far away from the TB now. An extra length of 2.5" silicone hose should fix it. But, with the engine out of it right now, I'm not really too concerned about it :)

I had heard of people having trouble with them, but mine lined up perfectly. Every little sheet metal screw found its hole. No trimming required. Just lucky, I guess....

Its not when mouning the shroud to the IC its the bottom half that connect to the top half.

On mine, the bottom part had two phillips-head screws - one on each side of the scoop that allow the bottom part to swivel like a clamshell. There were 5 sheet metal screws on the bottom part - one on each side and 3 along the bottom. Is yours different?

Jim

Do you mean that it does not fit the top half, the holes are in the wrong place, or the sway bar or something else is keeping it from going into place?
