Ford F150 Techs - Need some help

Today (about 70 miles ago), the SES light came on.
Truck is 100% stock and is an 2000 - F150, 5.4L
The truck does not run any different, but drove to 2 (two) local parts stores, and 3 scantools later, there appears tp be "no power from the ALDL" to the tool.
Searched the F150 board and could not find anything on this.

About 3 days ago, while out in a heavy rain, I did notice a faint smell of an electrical burn. (Wonder if the smell and SES light are related?)

Any of you techs know if this is a problem with these trucks?

Bad fuse in the fuse box.

More than likely cig lighter fuse or acc fuse. 10amp.. little red one.

Thanks Fellas.

I pulled all the fuses .... they all looked good .... light was still on.
Disconnected the battery to reset the computer (At least I hoped it would )
Well, light went off, and after 100 miles or so, it is still off.
Do I have a burned light bulb? (LOL)

Kinda feel dumb not trying that first, and feel dumber documenting my fix, but I feel I owe you guys a response and a THANK YOU for trying to help.
Guess I got lucky, or I must be livin' right.

Fords are weird, i own one it's an 88 and to reset the computer it says to disconnect the negative battery cable then pump the brake pedal for 10 seconds then reconnect the negative cable.

Your issue was the scantool didnt work, what it is the OBDII port has 12volt out.. that goes through the fuse box on the drivers side. If that fuse blows, your port wont have 12v and no scanner can work.

Razor, You are correct!
The fact that the scantool did not work still perplexes me.
Maybe I will drive back to the store and see if the scantool now works i.e. "Voltage present".
Don't want o keep my head in the sand too long.
