Hi my brother owns a 02 ford taurus with a 3.0v6 in it. The last couple months he has been having trouble with it. First it started off once and a while you be driving along and the transmission would slip (auto) the ce light and trans alxe light would come on. The codes came back as the trans range sensor. So he replaced it. All was good for a month or so until the lights started coming back on and the transmission would slip. So i ran it for codes, it came up with 21:eek: everything 5v ref cam, evap, tps, coolant temp, iat, and so forth. We didnt even want to be bother with it because we figured it was a electrical problem so the car went to ford. Well the car has been at ford for 2 week and they cant fix the problem. Thank god they only charged him for 4 hours:biggrin:. They thought they had the problem fixed but the car did it again. My brother is to the point where he is about to part the car out, but i told him let give it a go since it only has 36,000 on it. Any one have any ideas, the 21 codes are what got me:confused:
Thank

Google : Ford Taurus transmission problems.
when i was looking at cars for my sister i checked one out + went to google to see what problems they are known for + it came up with alot of trans problems,
maybe that could shed some light for you. Good Luck

Well here is a list of some of the codes that are showing up:
P0453-Evaporative Emission Control System Pressure Sensor High Input
P0451-Evaporative Emission Control System Pressure Sensor Range/Performance
P0708-Transmission Range Sensor High Condition
P0121-Throttle position sensor range/ performance problem
P0123-Throttle position sensor switch a high input
P0118-Engine coolant temp sensor high input
P0143-Circuit Condition Heated Oxygen Sensor Bank
P0113-Intake air temp circuit high input
P0713-Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor Circuit High Input
P1702-Transmission Range Sensor Circuit Intermittent
P1121-Throttle Position Sensor Inconsistent with Mass Air Flow Sensor
P1117-Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor Circuit Intermittent
P1112-Intake Air Temperature Sensor Intermittent
P0553-Power Steering Pressure Sensor Circuit High Input
P0193-Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Circuit High Input
P1437-A/C Evaporator Air Temperature Circuit High
Also codes are coming up for the transmission fluid temperature.

I know that these are not all of the codes, but I didn't write the rest of them down. I know that a few of them were repetitive codes for the same sensors. I also have checked the pcm visually by removing the harness connector and none of the pins seem to have any corrosion or damage.
My brother gave this to me

Reading the problems are like reading a book:eek: I know. Its got to be something to do with the transmission.

I hope you fixed your problem but if not maybe I can help. When you get a lot of codes all at once it usually means that a ground wire is bad or a ground wire is not clean enough where it is making contact with the body. All these sensors don't go bad all at once there is a common problem with all of these things. Find the common ground with these sensors and ck them. There are going to be a couple. Find a wiring diagram and start back tracing them. Also check all the engine grounds even on the block. Also check the alternator, I know it sounds strange but your car runs on a DC voltage (Direct Current) its a steady voltage of around 14v. If you have too much alternator ripple AC voltage (Alternating Current) this voltage ranges from 8 volts to 15 volts back to 8 v then back to 15 volts. The sensors dont know how to adjust properly and freak out and throw codes.

+1

Had similar problem with my Focus, and took it to the dealer. They found not only did I have a bad ground, but I also had corrosion literally just inside the sheething of one of the wires leading into the bottom of my underhood main fuse box that was also causing a problem on the positive side.
