Please Help :

I need a heavy duty or hardened forward drum. I had my 200 rebuilt and everything was working great untill we went WOT under 24psi of boost. 1-2 shift was good 2-3 was as well untill we heard a loud pop. Pulled it apart and found the forward drum shaft broken off the drum at the weld. The builder thinks a new stock one will not hold with the power I'm pushing so I am on a mission to find one that will 400hp 600tq at the rear wheels.
Any advise / help would not fall on deaf ears.

Thanks Brian Verson

I put the CK Performance drum and input shaft in mine after breaking one. I have been beating the crap out of it and pulled a 1.59 60' off the trans-brake last time out lifting the front wheels a foot. Nice quality pieces and excellent to deal with.

some stock ones will hold some wont

my times in sig was on a stock one but broke in high gear on my 14th pass of the day all 10 sec. passes and low 1.5 to 1.49 60 fts

replaced it with another stock one and beat on it for awhile with no problems with it

Bruce (we4) and Chris both sell better than stock drums

Brian, Bruce developed the billet forward drum and it was tested by NASA and was varified at having no torsional flex at 1400 pounds pressure. We have many running around and no problems. If one of these units break, its gonna be one hell of a slam to cause it. Any questions, please call. Mark :D

So what was exactly was the National Aeronautics and Space Administrations interest in prefecting foward drums for Buick transmissions. Are they using these in the space shuttle or what?:D Finally our tax dollars spent on something worthwhile.;) I tried to get NASA to help with some friction testing on some new kevlar condoms I was developing but they showed absolutly no interest.

Thanks everybody for all your help. I got a billet drum from CK Performance $379.00 Nice people and a few helpful hints on how to make everything come together.

Confused here...

Is it NASA or Boeing?

Not the same people but getting different claims on this site as to who actually makes, tested, etc. the PTS billet drum.

We have used NASA, Boeing, and Aeorjet for testing on our billet components. Sorry if I mis-spoke which it was
