Found it Sat morn in the rain..Finally picked it up today.Pulled the pan, vb stamped CZ5 with the pink stripe, so I am assuming its 1985?, The correct gov is there and all..I dont think it has been modified, but not 100%

the tag reads 872czfxxxx, no sure if its 85 or 87 or what year..EDIT..just double checked the chart..its an 87 i guess, got a little confused with the "2" being after the model year. thought the VB stamp had something to do with it, but i was wrong..

Anyway, to slap this thing in a TR I have come to understand, I should at min , get a GN servo, and my favorite shift kit, along with a speedo gear to match..

waiting to find out if my converter is ballooned or not, so unsure if I am going lock up or not just yet..

Thanks

Use an orange 11 tooth drive gear and a 30 tooth blue gear for 3.42 rear and 26" tire.

czf tranny

You have a monte carlo ss tranny.I got one for free, well exchange for th400 drum.I am going to build mine with the billet input shaft and drum from ck performance with the new valvebody plate pre drilled. In your case depending on your performance goals,a billet servo ,govenor gear, and your favorite shift kit would work fine with alto clutch rebuild kit for stock application and wide band.Good Luck.

Do you already have a billet forward shaft? If not id replace that and dual feed before i did the input shaft.

It's all stock, haven't touched it yet.Got too many other projects I'm working on,but I will definately dual feed the direct drum when I start that build.

If you find a black speedo driven gear (I believe its 27 tooth) then you can leave the green gear on the governor and not have to find a GN orange gear. In fact I probably have one if you can't come up with one at your local trans shop.

This is assuming stock 3.42 gears and a stock diameter 26" tire.

EDIT:
Also if you want a stock GN "694" servo OR one of the old single piston 200 servos then I could hook you up with that too.

Hey Chris, I am curious why you would want to build and install a CZ-f transmisssion in a turbo buick? I have never experienced this build up to work properly. How fast are you planning on running? Sent you a PM

Thanks for response guys,
I may have a black gear here from my kcf, will have to check the tooth count..My goals are not that crazy, as far as track is concerned, maybe mid 12 's ..but just a rough idea, pretty much stock longblock, mild cam..3.42's 26"tires
and if i need to get th eorange gear, the czf already has the blue, think the brf was blue right?

Dave, sent you a PM

Thanks a bunch

A CZ works great in a TR with heads, cam, and turbo. I use them often. Much more lively at throttle transition with easier kickdowns. Ive also use KZ and am about to try a KT. KZ shifts at 4900 with the KZ governor.

BR has 11/30 tooth counts and is set up for a 26"tire and 3.42 rear.

Double ditto.:D We have used these in GN`s for about 6 years with great success. BRF`s are great for stock/lightly modded cars.
CZ`s flat out rock in a modded turbo car. Shift timing is only "slightly" different (my observation), and much more lively as pointed out already by Bison.
