this intercooler is 34 rows, only 1 1/2 inch thick but its huge with a 3 inch inlet and 3 inch outlet, can this one be used with our cars?, looks like it may work pretty good if there was a way to put it in as a front mount..

I believe these intercoolers have the plastic endtanks. You will likely blow them out at high boost levels..

I don't see how that could be a problem. Have any idea how much boost those trucks run? More than most people on this board will ever see in their cars.

Does it look like this?

What I'd be concerned about is that changes to the intercooler's SIZE are affected because of the composite/plastic end tanks (same issues with the Powerstroke - I cut mine to fit under the header pannel).

-Banning.

Yes, I know full well how much boost some diesels run. But, you're talking about two different animals. I have a 760 turbo volvo. The intercoolers are known to be weak at higher boost levels. It's no powerstroke.. But, do what you like.

I've read the Volvo I/Cs are good for about 20 PSI, I've seen three cores welded together with custom tanks on an SVT mustang and they were holding at about 30 PSI. The diesels usually run high boost, an intercooler offa one would be just what the doctor ordered. Damn, I wish I could have 20-30 minutes to pick some sutff offa the Kenworth at work :D

Not all of them have plastic tanks. The ones we use from early PS's are all aluminum.:)

Otto, will be in Vegas and you can see the modified PS as installed in my car. Our data so far shows it more efficient than a CAS V-2 and PTE front mount. My inlet air temps measure 10-20 degrees cooler at the TB!

Also hope to have the "new" prototype intercooler patterned after the PS. Only it will fit a Buick WITHOUT modifying the car!:)
