Trying to install a new Accufab regulator. So how many of you have cross-threaded the line going in the bottom? I haven't *yet*. But it sure looks like if I lay my 16mm wrench on it that it's gonna cross.

How far will the fitting thread in by hand? Mine hardly goes in at all.

Also,I had to use the 10mm bolts to draw it into the fuel rail even with a lubed o-ring.

Any tricks to getting this thing together?

I did mine a few weeks ago while replacing the injectors. I also bolted the FP to the rail first then put the whole assembly in. I was able to get maybe 3 to 4 turns by hand on the line below. Then I put some blue loctite on the exposed threads and made a few more turns with the 16mm wrench. I also replaced the o-rings while I was there.
 
I actually have your thread here for reference because I am changing the injectors,too. That all went well. ..just don't want to strip the bottom of this regulator.

Ok...here goes. Gonna try to thread this fitting in.
 
I stripped mine!!!! Not FUN replacing line.

After that you can just push in the reg, at least mine just pushed in. There is a plastic spacer and on o-ring going to the fuel rail. Make sure the o-ring on the Return line is good also. Good Luck!!!
 
When attaching the fuel rail to the fuel lines or attaching a FP regulator, it helps to leave everything loose so that you can line the fuel lines up.
 
The fitting screwed right in. It just didn't seem to feel right in the beginning.

Yes,I should have left everything loose. Next time I'll try that

No leaks on the first try either. Had FP up to 60 line off for a little while by mistake. It wasn't running.

the threads arent the seal so loctite on them is a mistake

start with a new fresh oring that hasnt been in unleaded fuel recently (it will be smaller as fuel swells them up becaus and the etahanol swells them alot )

make sure the little oring is on the end of the fuel line and a drop or so of oil on the fuel line threads
to avoid stripped threads , thread the regulator onto the fuel line first until the fuel nut is bottomed in the regulator finger tight , do not fully tighten

now with a little lube (white grease , trans fluid ) on the regulator oring it will pop right into the rail and will stay there , then thread in the little 10mm screws and tighten with a nut driver , then snug the fuel line nut with a 5/8" wrench , you dont need to get carried away tightening it as the oring is the seal

to test for leaks ... hook up a known accurate fuel pressure gauge to the fuel rail port
dont start the car ! use the fuel prime wire behind alternator and apply 12v to it (the underhood lamp lead plugs in to the prime wire) , its much easier to check for leaks without the noise car running and youll also purge all the air from the rail , once it sounds like the air is gone and if no leaks you can now set the fuel pressure to 43 psi

remove the prime wire, start the car and see what the FP is as it will usually change with engine running because of the alternator increases voltage , now you can tweak the fp to whatever your chip needs
 
Since I replaced the FPR and fuel injectors at the same time and the fuel rail was out I test fitted the return line nut to the FPR housing fitting. I made sure that the nut went in smoothly for several turns by hand. If not then I would clean the threads up with a precision file.

It just seemed like it was impossible to start the fitting in the bottom of the regulator without the regulator being in the fuel rail. I just couldn't get the fitting started because I couldn't get the regulator straight. Plus,the stock fuel line has very little movement.

Looking back,I really should have changed the fuel line o-rings. I used a little PB Blaster on the threads,and a small dab of camshaft assembly lube on the o-rings.

I lucked-out with no leaks on my first try at the injector/regulator swap.
