Hey All! Just picked up another TR and am a long ways from home. Vortex Buicks has a lot of good info on their site and it's where I got the info to buy the disc of the shop manual a few years back.
I went to Vortex Buicks and now they're giving it out for free, but the site you have to go through (while giving away free gifts) has infected my computer.
Just wanted to give a heads up to anyone to get it from elsewhere. The original disc cost me $20, it's gonna cost me$160 to get my computer to work right again.
Happy Holidays, my Turbo Brethren!

If you know how to fix a car you can probably figure out how to reinstall windows. Backup your important files, wipe the hard drive and reinstall. Shouldnt cost you a dime. Or just get a mac like I did! ;)

macs are the chevys of the computer world. never break down run for years lol

Macs............... you mean the computer that changes operating systems so often, you are forced to buy a new computer every few yrs?
or the computer that will NOT allow upgrades of the OS.
or the computer that stops production of support products , and ,again, forces you to buy a new computer.
MAC......... the Edsel of the computer world!

Haha they do update waaaayyyy too often. On my work computer I just stay with whatever OS comes with it. I'm a designer by trade and after many frustrating experiences with my PC I went with Mac and its been much better.. though nothing is as awesome as using Linux was :)

my gf just bought a new mac air. her old pro was only 10 years old :) lol only thing was a new batt.

Mac's take way longer than a PC to outdate them in spite of all the OS upgrades. I have had several OS upgrades on my MacBook Pro and the only difference I noticed was that the battery doesn't not last as long as it did when I first purchased it.

Thanks for the warning.

Ran PC's since 96. Always had some sort of issue with all of them over the years.
5 years ago my brotherinlaw bought me a mac.
I've never had another issue.
Starts up super fast.
I'm never going back.

My girl needed a new laptop a year ago. I Talked Her Into A Mac. Even though it was an extra 1000 dollars she is extremely happy.

D

P.s. I view porn sites almost daily.
No viruses EVER!

Same here! I used to be all about PC's, hell I used to build them for a lot of people. Always found myself supporting them also.

4 years ago got a MacBook and have love it! When my current PC are outdated, I will go to a Mac.

Although will admit, I may check out the GNS Windows based tablet they have coming out..... Lol

I will say when it comes to cars everyone uses a PC. Theres always extra steps involved getting things to work such as powerlogger. Here's to hoping more aftermarket companies start programming for multiple platforms.

The problem comes to how much you can charge and still sell the item. There's no point in designing a system that won't sell. Id pay $300-400 each more for these systems to have them iOS compatible and I wouldn't care one bit about the extra cost. If you read some of the posts on these forums you can tell people are looking to save $$$ even at the sacrifice of quality.

Agreed. I often wonder how much nicer tuning would be using my ipad as an interface. Safer too since it would be easy to sit in my lap or mount as opposed to the laptop on the seat next to me. I try not to be one of those people. I'd rather spend the money up front and have a setup that lasts a long time and is easier to use. If it means I have to wait a little longer between purchases so be it. Though I totally understand that mentality. When Im between clients money can get tight and my car is one of the few things that can keep me sane.

All of this discussion about how nice it would be if more of our software programs could be made to run in Ios instead of widows. And how most would be willing to pay more for the privilage of doing so. And all that is true of course, EXCEPT. There's one obvious reason that this hasn't happened over the many years that mac and win have been around. It simply boils down to the fact that apple just plain refuses to open their architecture as MS has always done.

But couldnt something like a fast system or even translator simply use iOS as an interface to control their systems? Thereby making the ipad simply a digital "button" without the need for it to think for the device at all. I have no idea just curious really. I do work closely with a lot of Apple application developers. I should pick their brains on this one as well. The most I've done is designed interfaces for them. But that is just a graphic that they use, I have no idea how the stuff works!
