Didn't get to drive it today, would like to wait for nice weather...when I do I'll probably make him an offer, I know it's not worth the 10 g's.

Wish I can find one soon, I'm getting restless. :p

I didnt read the whole thread. I read a couple of posts and looked at the pictures. This is my advice TALK HIM DOWN way down in fact. Sitting outside full of leaves, rusted out CAI and rusty wheels. I bet the paint isnt that great either and letting the car sit for two years outside is not good. If your willing to travel look around, like its probably been mentioned you can find a nicer one for 10K. Call Kirbans and see what they can find. Call Conelys Performance Plus and ask for Janice (she usually answers the phone) and ask her about the guy she knows that sells GN's as a side business. They will all be Texas cars and in the 12 to 15K range. He may have some lower priced ones as well.

Wisconsin for some reason seems to be a hot bed for people selling Grand Nationals right now. I got mine for 10K with 57,000 miles on it and 100% stock. It needs paint but not much else.

Being that a mechanic owns it would worry me a bit. Especially since its been sitting outside for so long. He may have bandaid fixed it just enough to get it running but when you take it out and beat on it a bit (you know you will, everyone does right when they get one) it may start smoking or something may break. That would not be an upgrade to your Caddy but more of a headache.

I waited 12 years to get my GN, my first TR was an 84 Ttype when I was 17. Be patient and you will find a great GN for a great price.

Way High

Gooch,

I'd have to agree with GNVAIR and some of the other board members. The car is looking a little rough. IF it's been sitting outside for 2 years there's almost certainly rust somehwere on that car. Looking at the pictures you can see that it hasn't been maintained well. How often has it been ran during that time? Having a car sit for prolonged periods isn't that great for them either.

I think someone mentioned the 6k-7k range. For a car like that that has definitely been modded to some degree there's no telling what you'd get. If your looking for a car check with some of the board members selling cars. You would be much better buying a car from someone in the community who has a passion for the car and has maintained it well.

Sounds like what you have here is one of those crazy people who thinks his car is worth $10K because people ask that kind of money for these cars. For $10K you should be able to buy a GN that is drop dead gorgeous that needs nothing.

Hi!
I am always leery of rusty cars like the one you are thinking of. Look at the bolts and stuff, they look bad. My donor car, an '87 GN , was from Corpus Christi, TX and had a bunch of rust on it. I'm still cleaning that up....

Well guys, I'm now a proud GN owner. I found one in Bethlehem, PA.

I registered to MAGNA and put up some pics on a website:

I'll get some more pics when I register it.

There are a few minor problems, the speedo reads wrong and shakes, vibrates, and makes a loud whining noise. I was told to lube the cable.

Second, there is a loud sqeek coming from the windsheild/dash area and greasing the hood bumper should fix this problem.

Last, the seal for the astro roof is shot, I need to get a new one and replace it.

Other than that I love it!

Gooch

That looks like a very nice car....with some nice upgrades to go along with it. I wish you the best of luck with it.....youll love it.

thats more like it, i would say that that was a good buy,
but 10k for that other car was way to much, you should go show your car to the other guy and tell him look what you got for less.

good Deal

Yeah i agree the other car was way overpriced. For 10k you should've been able to buy a mint low 20k mile GN.

I have the same squeak in my car in the same area. I'm retty sure it's a door in the heater box on mine. Everytime, I shut the car off and vacume drops, I can hear it squeeking behind the dash. BTW, Nice looking car. The astro roof is a nice option.
