I have a poston's timing cover which was purchased about 3 years ago and it is the kind where the seal goes in from the front. It has been leaking and the seal I pulled out had b231-710613 on it. The seal came out very easy. I ordered a new seal from full throttle and the same seal came. I went to install it and it went in very easy with just my finger pressure so I decided to put some Silicone(The right stuff) on the outer edges and let it dry for two days. Now after taking for a drive it leakes even worse!! Are there different size seals for these covers?

Hi Sal I have the same dam problem, I was starting to think I'm nuts! Mine leaks from the outside of the seal- between seal & cover. Replaced the seal- same, used sealer- same, tried the hardening old school form-a-gasket = same still leaks! The seal fits too loose! I took a punch & pricked the area where the seal lays in to tighten it up, nothing? I got one seal from PTE, and a few from silver seal the company who I think made the P-O-S cover! I wish I could find a metal bodied seal that would fit tight instead of the rubber covered ribbed seal! Now I'm thinking of trying another cover! Charlie

I bought my set from autozone- felpro. Was very tight and a real PITA to take off the old one and slightly easier to press in the new one. Might try that route...

I have the same cover as you, and I use Permatex Aviation cement on the seal, and haven't had any problem with leaks on the TC seal.
