Have a Garrett TE44 turbo that I pulled off my Typhoon, has shaft play and rear seal is leaking so looking to get $175 out of it with the 3 to 4 adapter. Not sure how much it would be to rebuild but it is a nice upgrade for these cars.

The turbo isn't a te44. Looks like the compressor wheel has rubbed a little.

Why would you say it's not a TE44? I know it is im just curious why you would say it isn't so please enlighten me

and the wheel spins freely by hand with no rubbing but the shaft has play and I wouldn't recommend running it without a rebuild especially since the rear seal is shot.

A te44 has 6 blades on the compressor wheel. That one has 7. Looks like a 60-1 compressor. I
Can't see the turbine in the pics.

Now that i look closer I can see that the ex outlet is very thin near the top. That tells me it's likely a 76p turbine. So what you have was commonly marketed in the TR market as a te62. Its a good combination of wheels and supports a lot more power than a te44 but needs a more converter.

Hmmm I was told it was a te44 from the previouis owner of my typhoon and the guy had friggin stock injectors on the damn thing. Im gonna have to look into this further thanks for the info

I've gone 10.61 with the same compressor and turbine fwiw. Wow. Stock injectors and hopefully a stock engine and stock boost levels. The smallest injector I could have squeaked by with on mine was 50lb/hr and i was spraying alky on top of that. I would run at least a 60lb/hr injector if i planned on running that turbo hard. Just edited my prior post. Trying to post from my phone doesn't always work well.

the oil drippage could be due to the turbo being shelved with the turbine side down.

But if it has lots of play it probably needs a rebuild anyway.

It was probably run with the 7th injector, which could have made up the difference in fuel delivery if he didn't go crazy with the boost.

7th injector setup sold

No one needs a decently large turbo for cheap to rebuild and run?

I'll toss it up on ebay over the weekend
