I was wondering if anybody knows how difficult it is (or not) to change the fuel filter on the SC cars. I've got a GN and do it all the time on it, but haven't done it on the wife's car yet. Is there a way to bleed off the fuel system pressure like unplugging the pump and cranking it over a few times?

Also, I've heard the SC oil should be changed after a certain number of miles. She's got just over 80K highway miles on it currently and I'd like to do a little prevenative maintenance to keep it running good.

Tom,
The recommended interval for changing the s/c oil is 30,000 miles. I used a turkey baster to suck the old stuff out; the amount I got out was almost a full soda can's worth. And, it stinks like really bad apricots. I then refilled the blower with 2 bottles of oil using a small funnel (the type you use to fill those small oil burning candles) with a small hose attached to keep the mess to a minimum. The fuel filter is relatively easy to change; one side is threaded while the other uses a push-on connector. My fuel pump is hot-wired like my GN's, so I just start the car, undo the +12V trigger and let the car die.

Hope this helps,
Morgan

Fuel Pressure Release

There is a Schrader (sp?) valve on the fuel rail that has a black plastic cap screwed onto it. Just take the cap off and depress with a small screw driver. Be sure to cover it with a rag or paper towel, since it will squirt fuel out.

Thanks JasonGS! I also went over and got on the GS forum as well as the ClubGP forum and found some more good info.

Shouldn't be any problems, it'll just stink up the garage!! :D:D
