Anyone know how many micron the stock type fuel filters are? and if using a aftermarket filter what is needed micron wise?
Chris

i'm sure a stock replacement Fram filter from Wal Mart has a different micron rating than a Wix/NAPA filter, which might be different than another brand...
if you really want to know the info, then hit the different filter manufacturer's web sites and look up the specs. i know the Wix site used to have the micron ratings for each of their oil filters listed, so maybe they do for the fuel filters, too.

I really want to know this info. so if and when i run a aftermarket filter it has equal or a better micron rating than the oem type. It seems aftermarket's start at 10 micron then go to 25,75,100.

I look at Wix's website this morning it states their filter is 4 micron's I dont think i seen a aftermarket filter that low!

I looked into this years ago when I first bought my GN.Some real smart guys on here said leave it stock nothing better:biggrin:I actually found a place that sells the fittings that go into the filter and i have put them on street rods and other muscle cars:cool:Good luck

I would have no problem using a stock type filter from a cost stand point as long as it would not be a restriction in the 1/2" line i will be using. The wix filter also lists 1-2 GPM flow rate which is 60-120 GPH that seems to be up there with the aftermarket's! Anyone running in the 9's with a factory type filter with no issues?
Chris

Use a AC GF-626 has better flow rate than stock and is designed for higher psi. Also is fully stainless.

I was reading about the factory filters on here i thought i read the GF 626 was discontinued and replace by the 652 or 481. I cant seem to find any flow rate or filter rates for the AC's.
Chris

Correct and some filter brands list all of them and show just one filter to replace them in their brand i am sure they are all about the same flow rate and micron rate but i just wish i could find the specs on them!
Chris

I checked the oe filter out over the weekend they all seem to have the same port size around 3/8" maybe a little less. I think i am going with a aftermarket filter with true 1/2" ports so there is no flow restriction will a 10 micron filter be enough thats about as low as i seen them?
