Fuel gauge not reading right

I have a small problem with my fuel guage on my gn. it seems to go all the way past full and out off sight when i turn key on and then moves back up to around half way then back to out off sight again with maybe half tank filled. i imagine it is the sending unit on the fuel pump asemably. I was wondering where to purchase a new one or any other thoughts, i did have it out of tank a couple of times to replace pump so i guess i messed it up. thanks

The needles waves like that sitting still in a short amount of time? If so, that sounds more like a gauge problem.

I've never seen an analog gauge that's fast responding like that. Otherwise the needle would bounce all over the place when driving from fuel slosh.
