Fuel injector connector 84/85 vs 86/87

I didn't think these two were different but looking at the connector the size of female terminals are larger. Are they interchangeable btw the yrs? The early one looks to be harder to take off vs the newer ones. Thanks

Not interchangeable. Caspers has the harnesses for both Hot Air & Intercooled. Hot Air Fuel Injector Harness

injectors are same and use bosch connectors
injector harness for 84-85 is different from 86-87 , in orientation and what connectors are used where it connects to main harness

the 84 was an early design bosch injector connector as individual fuel injectors were relatively new , they need to have the metal clip removed to get off
the 86-87 used a redesigned push to release connector that expanded the wire retainer when pushed in

They are not necessarily interchangeable. Even if the injectors look similar, differences in terminal size, connector shape, and locking mechanism between early and later years can prevent a proper fit. Using the wrong connector can lead to poor contact, difficult removal, or electrical issues. Always match the injector to the correct year-specific connector.
