I have been unable to find this info so far so I apologize if this is posted somewhere on this site. I have an '85 T-type which I am in the process of rebuilding the motor. I have ported the heads and I'm adding a really nice intercooler. What is the stock rating of the fuel injectors for the hot air cars, and is it any different from the ones in the '86-'87 cars? What would be a good rating to go with if I replace them? Is it worth it if I'm going to be running close to stock boost levels, just with an intercooler?

stockers are around 28lbs I think. Same as 86/87.

36lb bluetops (or 37lb delphi) would be a fine upgrade, but some will probably say just go with 50lbers and dont worry about running out of injector in the future. With the addition of the intercooler there will be a definite benefit to have more fuel if even just for insurance. To get some benefit out of the ported heads you need to do the intake aswell, then you will definately need more injector to match the air. Add a nice size cam and larger turbo and your cooking. If you think you will be doing this stuff in the future then go with the 50s or even look into the 60/65s. If not then the 36/37s are MORE than enough.

FWIW-I've got an intercooler,heads/intake/cam,headers/3"dp,and TA-61 and 42# injectors are PLENTY.

I've gone almost 115mph in the 1/4 and there's LOTS of fuel left.

Yes, new chip has to be burned for bigger injectors, otherwise car will run RICH.

thanx for that so the only time the chip has to be changed is when upgrading injector size? wat if i decided to go wit a bigger turbo a yr from now will that new burned chip work ? or would i have to get another one burned? thanx for tips and advice more to my knowledge before making a decision

if you go with a bigger turbo you shouldnt need a new chip. I dont think that the chip has to do with the bigger turbo directly. I have a stock turbo on mine at the moment and stock injectors with a 16 psi caspers chip. dont know if that helps just my 2 cents. Harry
