Fuel Jug Caps Cracking

I have several of the 5 gal colored fuel jugs with the white plastic cap which I'm sure many of you also have...I have had no problem with them until recently...it seems the caps are cracking right at the top around the little screw in piece...I've had to replace several caps in the last few months...the last one only lasted about 6 months...just wondering if anyone is running into this...

Never had a problem with the caps cracking but after about 4 years or regular use my jug cracked on the corner from the bottom up to about 3/4 way up. It spilled 5 gallons of C16 in the attached garage over night and when I rolled out of bed in the morning it had stunk up the whole house.
