anyone know stock fuel pressure setting? Iv'e been building my 87 t/type from ground up for a year and a half and i finally got it together and it's doing really good except for a rich idle and i was thinking it might be fuel pressure related. Anyone? New O2 sensor, New TPS, New Crank Sensor, New plugs and wire's, has a little burbling on first initial take off under normal driving and then clears up.

specifications in alldata are 34-43 key on not running and 25-35psi running at idle with vacuum line on. and minimum dead head pressure (return line briefly pinched off is 75psi minimum. here is the chart attached!

I have this same problem and it is the EPROM chip. If I put back the stock chip it clears up. The idle is so rich with the Thrasher 93 chip I can barely stand the fumes. What chip are you running? With the stock chip the idle is smooth and crisp when I put back the after market thrasher 93 chip it burbles and hesitates like a loaded up motor that is too rich. After you clear it out with at least 10psi of boost it clears up but will return especially in traffic and around town cruising

So basically?

So basically without an adjustable fuel regulator and a fuel rail mechanical guage there is no way to tell what your fuel pressure is right? Where can you get the fuel rail guage at? Thanks jretrodude. By the way this sheet of fuel pressure info is great, very awesome resource for tuning. :)

It looks to me like the Alldata mentioned by Jeff may be for the normally aspirated V6, instead of the turbo. The shop manual specs for the 3.8 turbo are 34-40, line off, and 25-35 at idle.
If you don't have an adjustable fuel pressure gauge, you can't change the fuel pressure- it is what it is. The Thrasher has an open loop idle, richer than stock- but the Thrasher also is designed for higher fuel pressure than you get with the stock unmodified regulator.

Ormand if you look at the guide it says for 1987 34-43 ignition on and 25-35 at idle. Also my car has an adjustable regulator with a walbro pump and a hotwir kit and the presure is set to I belive 44.5 PSI i will check the fuel presure again. Anyway without changing a thing except swaping the Thrasher chip with the stock chip everything clears up. So I dont touch the fuel presure and the rich idle and loading up and burbling is gone so I think I will be replacing my chip and so should moose. Just my opinion but moose you should try a different eprom they are cheap about 75bucks.

it says for 1987 34-43 ignition on
The shop manual (chart A-7) says 34-40, NOT 34-43. Seems to me that "ignition on" is pretty much the same as "line off", or it should be, anyway. It's the base setting of the regulator, with no vacuum or boost to change it. I don't think the stock Bosch 233 regulator will go to 43. Most would be at something less than 40. But this isn't helping moose much. Maybe his regulator is not reducing pressure at idle? Need to check pressure with a gauge, then work from there.
