I need help...

A little back story,

I bought 2 basket cases and obviously didn't take either one of them apart so I am having "fun" trying to build one car right now. I have a 1987 GN and a 1984 T Type. I am currently working on the GN and the motor built for this car is actually a 4.1 block. I have the majority of all wires finally hooked up after a lot of research here as well as many hours standing and looking for a home for each wire. A lot of times they just "fall" into place and are obvious but sometimes it is tough.

I am ready to fire the motor for the first time but I am not getting any fuel to the rail, I chased down the issue and found what I assume is the fuel pump wire running back to the fuel tank. the wire is a large gauge red wire with a fuse linked in and a round pin connector. I tried the "see where it lays" method and from the bends in the wire it seems that it was connected to the positive side of the starter but that makes absolutely NO sense. Where does this wire connect? I will post a picture in a few minutes to see if that helps. I am so close to hearing this beast roar and now I am at a stand still...HELP!!!!

The first one is where the wire wants to lay...I am just confused by this.

That is some kind of hot wire kit it should go to a relay maybe under the rear bumper or inside the trunk in the little area by the DS tail light. There is a trigger wire (tan/white) in that area that energizes the relay.
Most hotwire kits get their power from the alternator lug, starter is the same but different.

PERFECT!!! Ok, I will run it to the alternator lug instead...I like that better. This is great news but now makes my fuel problem a head scratcher. Is the fuel pump on these cars mechanical or electric? I have a bleeder and gauge on my fuel rail and it is reading 0 PSI when I turn on the ignition or crank the motor?

The pump is electrical located in the tank.
There is a way to jump the a wire under the hood to test the pump.
There is a black connector located by the alternator /AC compressor run a jumper wire from the back of the alt to that wire and it will energize the fuel pump.
(Actually there is another green connector right by it that has white wires that is for under hood tach signal)
If you cant find that connector LMK I can take a pic of mine and show you.

Ok, I have quite the mess here right now because I am trying to fire the car first and then route all of these wires in their proper places but I have several black wires here I also have a "free" plug...is the second picture that connector and if so where does it go?

The one you hold in your hand is for the AC clutch connects at the 6 O clock position on the compressor.
Here:

Also, what the hell is this?
Connects to the brake proportioner valve under the DS floorboard on the frame of the car.
IIRC if that is unplugged the brake light will be on. plug it in on the top.

Ok, your good...that is now plugged in. Still searching for the black wire to jump the fuel pump?

Not a black wire but it is another "free" plug in that same harness...

Where does it go?

The good thing is this harness is almost completely Virgin but the bad news is since I am putting a motor in that is not totally stock I don't know what is what!

Ha! I missed that, sorry...I am on my phone and in the garage so it didn't see the circle. Cool, so it is the same wire that I just sent...well that explains why I don't have fuel pressure. Where does it connect or is it just a test wire?

That is the fuel pump test connector it doenst plug into anything. You jump 12V to it to test the pump. Pump should go right on.

here is a little jumper switch i made to help drain the tank through the rail or help with diagnostics.
The alligator clip goes on the alt lug. a small spade or ring connector into the test connection.
Rocker switch is optional.

Also the green connector with the white wires does NOT get plugged into anything. that is the tach test connection.

If you want to message me your number I can walk you through the diagnostic steps I use.

Ok,

The fuel pump runs when I jump it and I now have fuel pressure to the rail so that means something else is wrong or not connected. Man I am glad I have access to such knowledge about these beauties...now what?

Well that answers a lot of questions it means your pump is still good your fuses are intact but does the fuel pump come on for a few seconds when you turn the key from off to on? (but not started)

No sir, that's what made me start chasing this down. I never heard the pump once until I jumped it. When I turn the key on I get nothing...just a click heard under the hood by the vapor canister? If this would be easier on the phone I would be happy to call you or give you my number? I sincerely appreciate your time. After all of this hard work I am so close yet so far away!
