Hi,

I just got through installing a new used turbo because my old one blew and now it sounds like my fuel pump is always on and running. It runs when the car is on and I am driving. And it runs when the car is off and the keys are out. The sound is coming from underneath the gas tank and from fuel injectors/throttle body area. I have to unplug my battery for it to stop.

Its sounds like the fuel pump normally does when you first start put the key in and turn it on but its a little lower and softer. And when I turn the key is gets louder (like it normally would), then the car starts and then it gets lower and softer but it is still running. The car always seems alittle rough when driving.

There is even bubbly sounds coming from the fuel injectors/throttle body area all the time (whether car is on or off). It stop when I disconnect the battery.

Thanks,

Rob

Are you a new owner of the car?

Check for a switch wired in off of the little grey connector on the drivers side valvecover area. You can overide the relay and apply 12v to that wire to run the pump.

Un plug the fuel pump relay...I don't know where it is on a TTA. Get a new relay and see if that solves it.

Reason pump is running for a while (not all the time) when the key is turned off is that the relay is in parallel with a oil pressure sender so as long as you have oil pressure the fuel pump is running (in case you decide to start the engine quickly again).

So if it's running all the time could be stuck relay, oil pressure switch gone bad, or wiring issues ....

Thanks everyone. Could someone tell me where the fuel pump relay is located and the oil pressure switch?

Rob

Did you check the fuel pump prime connector to make sure nothing is plugged into it, as suggested by notacarlo? It's the little black connector that should be hanging in the open behind the alternator.
BTW, when the car is running, the pump should always be running. When the car is not, it should not.

That's a GN only thing and not on the TTA I beleive. The TTA prime is in the diagnostic connector inside the car ...

oil pressure switch is down by the oil filter- 3 wire plug right above it.
you.
as for where the relay is- somewhere under the hood. on Regals it's over on the passenger side. but they don't lebel them- so just keep pulling relays out until the pump stops. once you've found the relay, use a test light to make sure that it's only got power on one wire with the key off (one of the bigger wires going into it).
