Fuel relay problem/ pump not running

Well after driving 400+ miles yesterday afternoon/evening I stopped for the night. When I cranked up this morning the car ran for 4-5 seconds and shut off. When I checked the fuel pump was not running so after checking several things I jumped around the relay and the pump ran and the car started up. But I dont want to run it this way and its early, no parts stores open. My question is there a relay I can take from another place to get me going or is it wait until a parts store opens and and get the part? Thanks. Stuck in Tallahassee

I just had the same problem, I had an oldschool relay setup on my car. I bought a new wiring setup and relay from caspers and it is sweet. It only cost around 60 bucks. I try to find a relay from the local parts store but I had no luck.

are you sure it's the relay? All jumping power around a relay does is verify the the relay isn't being activated. Could be the relay, could be whatever activates the relay. Below is a link. Toward the bottom is a rightup on troubleshooting a no fuel pump condition. If the store's not open it might be worth looking at.

It ended up being the relay, I changed out the relay and all is good. Thanks for the replys.
