My 3/8 fuel hard line is corroded and I am going to replace it with 6an PTFE line direct from sender to fuel rail as well.
The 5/8 line is a vent line that is no longer connected to anything in the engine bay. Can I shorten this line so it vents near the fuel tank under the rear of the car?
The return line I will be upgrading to 6an PTFE line direct from sender to fuel rail as well.

Engine is not original, it is a 5.3 LS. Fuel tank appears to be a stock replacement unit with baffles inside, and the sending unit and pump appears to be aftermarket with a racetronix harness.

Can you? Sure.
Should you? No. Fumes can build under the rear of the car and create a fire hazard. Reconnect the vent to the intake, preferably through a charcoal canister and burn that gas off.

I have a short line that points up off the tank, then on the end is a vent valve with a check valve. Amazon has a bunch.

When I had a normal fuel filter on the end of this line and it pointed slightly down I'd get suction from internal pressure and get drips, not anymore.
