Tim did you ever get your alky system working ?

Got it installed and tested and then added a couple lbs of boost and found out I have issues to fix before I can add more boost and really benefit from the alky...I'm going to Spoolfools place tomorrow to see if we can figure it out.

The car is fine if I run 14-15 lbs of boost at WOT. But when I adjust it to 16+ at WOT, it falls flat on its face in the upper RPM range. It only does this when I add boost.

I think my 20year old exhaust system and original cat probably need to get replaced....maybe the engine can't push the air out faast enough and chokes on it. O2's stay in the upper 700 to low 800, plugas are gapped at 0.35, new plug wires and new coil pack, new fuel pum and full spring cleaning was done. and there is no KR on the scanmaster when the falling flat occurs.

After my test runs, I also found out my alky tank is leaky, so I'm waiting for a new tank from razor.

That's because you have a garden hose spraying alchol in that poor tired ass engine & drowning it. Try dialing the alcky back & see what happens. Using more than the engine can handle kills power.

Thanks, Lou.
Will give it a shot after I replace the leaky alky tank and turn the alky back on.
I've tried the alky with the gain set at 4, 5 and 6....didn't seem to make much of a difference. I'm running my fuel pressure at 43 line off through the 60lb injectors with matched TT chip. Do you think the 60lb injectors are more than my combo can handle?

It was doing this fall on its face thing before the alky install too, but with the alky it does seem more exagerated.

I first experienced it when I first put on the RJC boost controller (before alky) several weeks ago and set the boost to 16 for the first time.

As long as I leave the boost down around 14, it does not do it at all and the engine runs pretty good through the power band.

I've also pulled the TT alky chip back out and removed the RJC Boost controller so Mike and I can start close to ground and work up from there.

Besides the 20 year old exhaust and original cat, I'm also still running the stock air box and filter. I'm going to throw a cone filter on the end of the MAF pipe until I get around to the full cold air kit. I'll do the cold air kit after exhaust side is done.
....but first ....I need to settle up with you on bill for the Directscan;)
I'll be installing that this weekend also.

Tim, building a Buick is a bit like building a house. You start with the foundation first.Your money would be more wisely spent by first eliminating back pressure in the inlet & exhaust. then a chip & fuel pump, fuel filter, plugs & wires. That would of netted you an instant benefit & some experience. Next before you step up to more power get the trans redone & proper stall converter ( good luck with that one ) As I remember your trans has some issues,Then your ready for all the rest, intercooler, turbo, alky, injectors.By then you should be well on your way to being broke & divorced. So once you deal with them distractions Now your really ready to haul ass & go for it. build the engine, heads cam,etc & so on.

Thanks, Papa Lou.
Eliminating the exhaust restrictions is next on the list, followed by the inlet side (but I am ordering a cone filter to mount onto the MAF pipe this week).

As Spoolfool is my witness, the GN is actually running pretty good right now. The trans seems to be OK but the converter is a tad tight.I think during one of our conversations, I told you the car acts like the trans wants to shift bu can't. That was part of my "falls on it's face" issue which I has solved by not using the RJC boost controller. Not sure why...but the RJC controller does not get along with my current set-up.

When I bought the GN, it needed a lot of attention. Injectors and fuel pump were bad original equipment, so was the coil pack. Wires and hoses were shot, etc....it was messy. Since I had to replace the injectors anyway, I went for the 60's and the TT chip and figured I'll catch up with them later.

Be patient with me papa Lou. I appreciate the advise and I save every bit of it for future reference as I plot out the build out of my combo and scheme against the wife for funds and hidden credit card accounts.
;-)
