Sat in a Cobra this weekend, just to be sure.

YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME???

Granted, I'm 6'-2" tall and 205 pounds, BUT COME ON!!! Not only is there no headroom or legroom, there's no room near the pedals for your feet. The back seat is, well, is there a back seat? On the flip side, you could operate an ATM on the passenger side from the driver's seat.

My wife sat in it too and commented it was a death trap.

Unless you're Jane March, you're going to look like Mr. Potato Head behind the wheel. How about a convertible and a switchblade?

Hello, Ford, I'm not Chinese. Ding, dong, folks are getting bigger, not smaller...

I don't care if it makes 1,000 RWHP - NFW!!!

:D

You look in the rearview mirror?

Nothing but plastic rice stuff. ;)

And that was in the V6 rental car version. :p

Salvage,

You know, I recall reading a road test on the GN in the day and it went something like 'great motor looking for a good car.' Funny how what goes around comes around. The same can be said about the Cobra.

If Ford made a Lightning in the extended cab I'd probably buy one too, but they only make a regular cab, and there ain't even room for a ham and cheese on rye in it. And the Harley, which is based on the Super Crew, is, shall we say, gaudy.

And Mick sings, "You can't always get what you want..."

I'm 6'4" 280lbs and I sat in an '02 GT Stang a while back and as you could imagine I wasn't comfortable at all!!! Same goes for the C5 Vette I sat in a while back..... It sucks to be a big guy:(

Not that I'd ever buy a Ford, but from an overall perspective, I spent about 5 hours riding in the front passenger seat for half the trip and the rear passenger seat for the latter half of the trip and I must say, I (at 6' 4") was actually more comfortable in the back seat than the front because I could actually stretch my legs out. Yes, it was just a base V6 model, but regardless, there was no position I could put the front seat into where I could both be comfortable and at the same time the rear passenger wouldn't feel overly hunched over. Though I've yet to sit in a GTO, let alone see one, I am hoping that for the money, it leaves the Cobra in it's own dust not only on the strip. However, I'd like to see what Ford has up their sleeves with the '05 Mustang.

Same here, 6'3", 255 and my brother's got an '02 GT Stang....passenger seat was uncomfortable! My Buick will drive through a school without chipping the paint, I think I feel alot more comfortable in the 'tank', even if only for safety purposes. My daily driver is a '91 Dodge Stealth R/T, and even that thing pins your leg between the wheel and the console.....are we all considered Japanese? And does anybody in Japan ever take an extended road trip?!

I drove Scott's C5 Vette a few times.

While the overall airspace is a bit claustrophobic the seats were very comfy and I'm 6ft.

Coulda driven that car a bit longer even on our crappy roads.

I don't think it would make the best daily driver but if someone wants to give me one to try it out I'd go for it. ;)

Biggest problem for me was getting in and out of it not sitting in it.

Heads up display actually worked well too. Needed some NOS however. :D

Or the optional gearZ.

Or the optional Z06 package, then again I never would have got to drive that one prolly, but if I did, he'd have to learn to drive salvageV6 for a few weeks.
:p

Sports cars aren't supposed to be roomy, they're supposed to be kind of closed in. That said, my compaint with modern Mustangs that I've driven is the seat position. For some reason I felt that I was too high up and ready to be catapulted out the windshield. I haven't had the pleasure of trying out a Vette. Yet. ;)
Gotta say, the last time I drove a GN I felt like the drivers window was really close in. Like I didn't have much space there. Maybe it was my imagination. All questions went away when I hit the gas though. :D

Strikeeagle,
I'm still interested in what you decide and I'm still considering a GTO for the wife.

They make aftermarket seat tracks for taller poeple and Mustangs. Ask the dealer they will sometimes install them for customers. I'm only 5'8" 185lbs so its not an issue and I fit quite nicely in the cobra.

One thing to consider, my 03 has a pulley, CAI, and chip ($800 in mods). It makes 445 lb-ft of TQ at 1900 rpm and 10.5 psi. The TQ never dropped below 400 and peaked at 471. Can you say flat. That is SAE corrected also and on pump gas. The car is an absolute blast to drive and is like having big block under the hood. It's the first car I've been excited about since the GN.
