I pulled into a gas station to get some propane for my grill and an older guy was getting out of his car. He gave me the thumbs up and said nice car. Its a daily driver but looks pretty good. As I walk into the store to pay he's talking about my car to another guy. He proceeds to tell him that back in the late 80's early 90's those cars were embarrassing big blocks at the track. The disinterested guys says, "whatever, i'm a ford guy." He walks out as I fire up my car, which sounds pretty good and he grins ear to ear and says "not too bad" I gave him the "whatever smirk" as he climbed into his 80's escort with a donut on the back.:p

People either know quite a bit or little about Turbo Buicks. That's what makes them unique. Every knows what a Mustang is.

I find that it is usually the 'old timers' that recognize and appreciate these cars when out and about. I don't like to consider myself an 'old timer', but the reality is that in the eyes of today's youth I am indeed one of them. The random kid (17-25 yrs old) really has no idea what they are and only take an interest when you smack down their 'fast' Honda with it.

What's cool about the GNs, and that the younger people can relate to, is the relatively small displacement and turbo arrangement. The GN still draws a crowd of young 'uns at the track when word-of-mouth spreads about the it. Buick was way ahead of their time.

The DUB-CITY cars at Walmart are the only other ones they have seen...

Very few people know what they can do.

The GN is a great car to have if you want to impress a DUDE - I am always polite when some guy says something about the car but it never seems to be a hot chick:biggrin:

Oh well, I don't really care, driving the car makes me happy.

My wife calls them "Chick Repellent"

Now that's funny! Yea, it certainly won't draw the attention of hot chicks like a Supra would. That's ok tho cause it's faster then most Supras and cost half as much to build.

That's funny. This 20 chick I know called my car a 'Grandma car on steroids' hahah....

Oh so true! The only hot chick (or any chick for that matter) that has ever complemented my car is my wife.;)
