Gasket question??

Is it mandatory to run a copper gasket at the passenger header to exhaust housing location?
Is there a substitute (ie. high temp RTV) that would be acceptable?

I don't know the correct answer, but I have the copper gasket there and it seems to do fine. I HAD the copper gasket for the turbo to down pipe and it leaked like a sieve. I put the copper hi temp gasket maker there and it works great. I am probably messing something up, but I had to pass tech inspection and that is what I had to do to stop the oil leak. Good luck.
