General rant about this board nowadays..

I don't know what happened to this place. It seems like 'kids' have taken over or something (and I'm only 30!) - at least in the for sale area..I've tried to buy 3 transmissions in the last 3 months and it's been some sort of huge failure each time. Either no details posted and I can't seem to get any out of the seller (seems like a standard item if you're going to spend $1-2k for an item sight unseen across the country), or it will get sold out from under me without any prior warning from the seller, or they will just totally bail on an arrangement made in writing, while I was sitting at the bank waiting for a phone call back with an address to overnight a money order! I used to buy and sell on this board all the time a couple/few years back, then took a 2 year break or so..then got back into it this year, and it's been nothing but 100% FAIL every single time. Had a concrete offer in on a set of springs, waiting for an address to mail payment to, then those were sold out from under me too by someone stopping by for a local pickup. I can totally understand not wanting to ship something if someone is going to make it easy and stop by your house, but an agreement is an agreement, or at least it used to be. Ugh. Sorry for the rant, but I know others have been experiencing this as of late. There should be some sort of regulation on the FS forum, but I know that would be tough to enforce.

Sadly, this is the way of the world these days. Everything I offer on is checked on first in the feed back forum. I try to comunicate with the seller as to when I sent payment and where to send it. Things happen, I get that but at least let the other party know what's happening. Most will work with ya. Some just won't. Good luck and I highly reccomend buying from those with a solid rep.

If you still need a tranny built there's one up here in the DFW area that's on the board. You should be able to get one from Jake and have a warrenty with it. You can pick it up or he'll ship it to you.

What I am thinking...There's also Mike Kurtz @ Century in Houston area..He's one of the 200 pioneer builders.

I never realized you were in DFW. I feel for you. I did my time there. Best day of my life was when I moved out of that place.

I have had good and bad deals on the trader..

I got a set of NEW head gaskets that are bad in the package.. What do I do with those?? Will Fel Pro exchange them?

That sucks.

The problem is, like everyone, I don't have unlimited funds..most of the new builds are right around $2k total, plus install. I'm trying to find a well built trans for $1500 or so just because of the paycheck..looks like I may just have to save up a little extra..the 3 transmissions I had found were $1500 and sounded like they were well done, but everything keeps falling through..

LOL I'm in between DFW and Waco Jay. Just far enough out of the insanity of that place, thank God. I grew up there though and know how to get around it.:biggrin:
