I would guess that there could be more to this than meets the eye. Yes, the dog sought you out rather than it's previous owner. That speaks volumes in itself. Did the previous owner have kids?, grandkids? I would bet that somebody somewhere teased and / or mistreated that dog, and I would bet that those some-bodies somewhere was / were kids and / or a maladjusted family. Somebody somewhere has been pulling that dogs tail for a ride. Or teasing it. And I am sure that there is some jealousy in there somewhere, and not necessarily on the dogs part, but maybe the previous owners family.

Owner was a 50something living off his mother! So I have no idea where he came up with the 1300 to buy her. She has calmed way down now. I've been taking her to obiedience school. WOW a pop can with pennies it it?

Any dog can be your families best friend or a nightmare. I love the G.S.
they are great dogs. It will be more than worth the effort. Glad you are making the time to fix the situation. You will never regret it.

....Ok a little off topic..So have to ask. How long have you guys had GS live?? Just lost ours last month. 13.5 years.. BUT before him the ones we had would go maybe 6-7 years :redface:

Had a large male 13yrs. Chloe is 7 and we are looking at a pup for spring.
2 of them at once......... I know it doesn't make it easier Dan but I kinda feel like if I can get 10 yrs. with a large dog the rest is extra. I have been lucky, Most of my dogs have more personality then the people I know.
I wish I had her life..... Sorry about your baby.

My first GSD got to be nearly 12, my parents bought a female after and she is now 4. I had one, was from a GSD rescue and was estimated to be 3 when I got him, 3 years later he got terminal cancer If my schedule was anymore normal, I'd get another one this afternoon!

I can handle 10 years .. We'll be looking for another in the spring. Oh my dogs all had more personality than the people I know including me

I've noticed food is critical. If I give her anything other than IAMS she'll fart and have poop accidents!! Thanks for all the advice guys!!
